I pass Motown at least 3 times a week, there is ALWAYS a crowd there to see and tour it, even to take pictures in front of it, when it's closed! And don't forget, there is a funeral home right next door too, where people are dying to get in! But it's too bad the current generation of Detroit HAS FORGOTTEN Motown, and what it means to the world! Before RECORD stores closed, you couldn't even find a Motown CD or tape, but thanks to places like this, IT LIVES ON FOREVER!

The sax world is kind of odd in that there are guys like Jr Walker who don't get their due. Respect. Motown sax players. People just talk about guys from the 30's to the 50's. Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon...etc. then in the rock genre Clearance Clemons. and a few one-hit wonders and their sax solo's. First time I heard Jr Walker...thought he was an amazing sax man...then he started singing...I was blown away...sounded like a great Motown singer. He was. :) His playing or solo's are never in any one's Top 10 (KZbin sax solo top 10s). Don't get t hat. Do people never figure the sax IS used in R&B?

Does anyone remember a compilation called Motown The First Ten Years released on vinyl cassette and eight track in 1969 , several albums long with narration and artists and perhaps staff comments on the songs ? This song always reminds me of JR. Walker talking about how the song was written for the 68 election yr and how he kept rejecting this song but the writer was persistent and here we have this HUGE stretched hit . If this collection is in the mosogotam vaults it would be great to see what could be done with the narrative and interview material.
