It's funny to me that he brings up automobiles and autonomy. I see so many young people who are not interested in getting a driver's license or gaining any independence. They are over mothered in my estimation and not interested in leaving.
@kazama1957 жыл бұрын
Automation has removed the need for that sense of independence but it is necessary towards the overall growth of the individual. If you went to any young person on earth and offered them a car they would take it. It's just as Michael N said, we're poor. However you are right in that the lack of need for that independence is what drives our seemingly lack of interest in moving further as individuals and promotes the want of having someone do it for you. We are a babied generation

Peterson has a minuscule problem here. Where he uses order associated with the “right”, the fact is that both schools of thought are rigid at the extremes. Difference lies in the overall attitude. Divergence appears where one prefers exploration and inclusion, while other is dedicated to a routine and its continuance at all costs.
@justincrosby99927 жыл бұрын
Good and Evil is based on perception and survival.
@crzyeightch2647 жыл бұрын
Not exactly true. Evil has an element of malevolence. If you have decide to kill another through a rationale that that person is a perceived threat, and you do it from behind and slitting their throat. Fair enough, not pretty but possibly necessary. However, if you put a mirror in front of your victim so he can watch himself die, that's Evil. not much room for a different perception there.
@justincrosby99927 жыл бұрын
I've never heard of someone killing their victim in front of a mirror. You're arguing just to argue. And even still. What if that person killed your entire family in front of you. Then left you to die. Then you came back and killed that dude in front of a mirror so he can watch himself die...just like he did to you. Is that evil? To me i think it's justified good.

IceCold11235 A snake was a very real threat for ancient man. The fact of the insidious nature of its threat, say lying in tall grass waiting to be stepped on by someone not careful, makes it more analogous than the obvious threat of a bear or tiger.

it's wild how Joe rogan doesn't discuss topics about the right doing those things to the left in the same way, as if the right or conservatives don't fit the same rules as a non thinking collective of people, just like the left does, but I guess that's just how it is. i complain about accountability all the time and how people will lie about their true intent, so I wont' i've done it before.....and I recognize that I have. but I recognized it and I have the ability to become a truly better human being because of my awareness being capable of turning on my self. I can become better. whereas a person who continues lying to themself can't.

I've always pondered good and evil, when you take yourself out of the human perspective and imagine seeing certain phenomenon from the perspective of the solar system or universe things don't seem so black and white, for instance when the sun explodes and destroys all matter and life is it evil or good as the same explosion will make way for new life or possibilities, it was also always doomed to end so it the sun good or evil, this line of thinking leads me to the idea that good and evil don't actually exist they are just human creations
@jaymiddleton17827 жыл бұрын
Kenny Willis you're right. there is no good and evil, it's an abstraction applied to reality. so we can't be biologically hardwired to purport things that don't exist.
@RDstar753 жыл бұрын
how old are you?
@26adex3 жыл бұрын
Star explodes because its dying, not because it wants to destroy something, dying is not immoral Also sun doesn't have dreams, emotions, thoughts and motivations, so it can't be good or evil because you need those in order to be moral or immoral. People who murder others are clearly evil. Don't compare things that have nothing in common, because you apear as someone from r/im14andthisisdeep

I am a fan of Jordan Peterson! Having said that, his tackling of this question is less than flattering to his IQ! when Joe posed the question of the evolutionary basis he went on a rambling tirade of his views with the absence of facts that usually accompany his answers! The complexity of good vs evil cannot be properly debated by his over -simplification of predatory vs maternaly agreeable behaviour! He lost himself in his attempt to answer the question and kept coming back to it primarily because he knew he did not adequately respond! It was hard to watch! Dear doctor, please do not let your ego surpass your intellect! Celebrity status and vanity do have their pitfalls! Not everything you espouse will be taken as gospel!
