For years, I felt like the Glock 26 was obsolete. I’ve carried a Glock 43X for several years now and love it. However, I shot a Glock 26 for the first time today. I couldn’t believe it, but the perceived recoil was about HALF that of my 43X. I then got to thinking, “I can feed this thing with my G19 and G17 magazines!” I got home from the range and bought my own G26 online today. This gun is nothing to sleep on.

The 26 may be an "aged" design but it shoots incredibly well and I like that I can feed it with larger magazines off my belt if I need to. My favorite of the Micro Compacts is the Shield Plus though, I had a Gen 1 Shield since they got released in 2012, never upgraded it to the M2.0, but when I saw the Plus came out fits in all the same holsters and holds significantly more ammo with the M2.0 grip I picked one up and I have been very happy with it.

I guess this just shows that different guns work best for different people. If you are some guy working mostly in an office, it probably doesn't matter a lot what you pick to carry as long as it is reliable. But if you factor in use by armed professionals, the Glock 26 has some advantages. For example, when I was a police officer, I carried a full-sized Glock in my holster and a G26 strapped to my boot as a backup. I could feed the smaller gun off the same magazines. Try that with a SIG P365. I've flown into places for work as a protection agent where I've needed to quicly replace something like lost magazines or a holster, and I can get such things just about anywhere for a Glock, including in Third World countries. When I get off the plane in one of those places and am handed a gun to use because I can't bring my own, it will more likely than not be a Glock 9mm so I have no need to do anything different than I do at home. And in the unlikely event that one of my Glocks breaks, thanks to Glock having provided me with a no-cost Armorer's school, I can repair my gun from a baggie of small parts I carry with me on the road. Try that with a SIG P365. The video mentioned that the P365 is probably cheaper when its sights are considered. This may be true, but ignores Glock's Blue Label pricing for qualified professionals. I can buy a brand new Glock 26 for $399. I spend 15 minutes installing my preferred sights, Trijicon HD's, check zero and I'm good to go for just over $500, so pricing is a wash for me. I also only need to stock one type of relatively inexpensive factory spare magazine for all of my Glock 9mm pistols. When you own enough magazines to matter, that is a big deal. I typically carry my G26 with a factory +2 floorplate in-gun and a G17 spare magazine, giving me a load-out of 30 rounds. I live in hot and humid South Florida and have zero issues in carrying this setup. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a SIG P365 as a citizen's carry gun, but the Glock 26 has some real advantages for those who make their living with a gun. I also shoot my G26 well out to 50 yards, just like a larger gun, and I cannot reallly do that with the P365 although others may be able to or don't care if they can. Running a test on an indoor range at 25 feet hardly evaluates the uses I might have to put my carry gun to. The Glock 26 has been meeting my needs since the late 90's and I see no reason to change now just to get a gun that is a bit thinner or lighter. When I go out armed with the G26, I am carrying a "no compromise" sidearm. Others may feel differently, and that is okay.

Great timing! I just went back to my Glock 26. I was carrying the X Macro until I had an issue where the magazine release button (and its related internal parts) fell out of the frame as I was taking the gun out of the holster to secure it for the evening. I was never happy with how X Macro fit my man-size hands, but I did love how it carried. Because I was accurate enough with it, I figured that I could make the compromise and switch to the P365 platform. I have been a Glock end user for over two decades, and I have never had a failure that was not from ammunition or a lack of routine maintenance. Bottom line...please tell Gatson that I am sorry and that I will never cheat again.

G48 + PSA 15rd mag is a great combo. I made a kydex holster that clocks the gun at an angle that leaves the grip very vertical and it doesn't ever print

12:46 - One more big thing with the p365. The serialized part is the module inside so you can change that grip to fit what you like. Personally I prefer the XL length grip. Though we are starting to see firing module versions of firearms in glock clones. But they're only self-make options for enthusiasts right now.
@daftpanda6533 Жыл бұрын
Yeah the Macro holds more rounds than my 320 X compact. They're about the same size with the 365 obviously being a little thinner. I shot them both at a lgs, and bought a new 320XC- Mostly since as I can get a firing grip on it much easier and I shot better with it/ its easier to shoot. Next one will be a Macro Taco with a an additional XL grip module, and one XL Mag.

You make a very good point. I have owned my G27 for a few years and recently replaced it with a Hellcat because I was drawn to the smaller dimensions, but I've never compared my accuracy side-by-side at the range. I may find out that I am more accurate with my Glock. Granted, a 40 vs. 9mm is not apples-to-apples, but it would still be good to know which gun I shoot more accurately.

I prefer the P365X over the P365, even then I have the Wilson Combat grip since it has a little more palm swell. People like to hate on the Chonk 26 but it shoots surprisingly well and comfortably for me. I get some flack when I say it but I do plan to get myself a 26 sometime

I carried a G 27 for years. However, as I get older I have found that the G 26 is easier to control. I was able to rip the bullseye out of the target at 15 feet. As a side note my G 26 stovepiped brand new out of the box. Also, the brass was ejecting unevenly. When the brass ejected straight up, the gun would not feed properly. It went back to Glock Inc. in GA. They replaced the ejector and firing pin. It now shots like a champ.

I have both and stuff on both ends and in between. I also had a 27 for a number of years and shot it judiciously. Traded it for the 26 cause me and arthritis were pretty much done with .40 S&W. Didn’t ever really like the 26, and won’t say the 365 is much of an improvement in the gentle recoil department. Still, it’s concealment is much cleaner than the 26, especially in most pockets. That being said, I don’t intend to send the 26 off to the used gun shelf at my local dealer anytime soon. I’m like all the other thousands of 26 owners who’ve shot it more than once before tossing it in a drawer and have nothing but boring stories about how it didn’t ever malfunction on me…

The first time I went to the range with my P365 I shot absolutely awful. I was convinced I made a huge mistake and wondered how I could possibly shoot that poorly when I’m usually fairly decent. The same pattern repeated for the next range trip or two and then something clicked. I can now shoot my sig better than some much larger guns, I feel like it is one of those guns you develop muscle memory for, on mine my finger slides further over the trigger than my other guns. I’m 6’2” so that might play a part in the fact my hands just can’t properly grip it, but I feel like it’s valid as long as I shoot well.

My 1st Glock was a G26 Gen 5 with Ameriglo sights. Only mod has been an SCD since this was my first striker fired pistol and I wanted that extra layer of safety. It's been my primary carry for the last 5 years with a +2 mag and a spare G17 mag. For reference, I'm 6' 3" @ 270lbs, so concealment has never been an issue. For good or ill, a Sig 365 isn't even on my radar.

Let us not forget that the G26 has a .43 inch longer barrel than many of the new (and admittedly wonderful) micro nines. Since it's the handle, not the barrel, that typically prints a silhouette and breaks the rules of mandatory concealment, I'll take the extra barrel length. Yes, the reputation is king, and reputation only comes from years in the field.

Best part of your analysis is noting how individual it can be. For me, P365X is considerably more accurate with the grip length than the smaller P365 grip - yes, a little longer "horn" but a claw cures that. Shot the Hellcat and a Glock 19 and Glock 26 today to find my CCW. Hellcat was "skippy" and the mag is stiff sheet metal. Groups were sloppy over the target with the Hellcat. Glock 19 was like shooting a couch, steady tight group and highly accurate. But the 19 is too big and I already have a Sig P226. Glock 26 was small and shot equally as tight. With Picky mag extensions the grip on the Glock 26 was ample. Winner: Glock 26

I shoot my G26 almost as well as my G17. I think it's the extra width of the double-stack design. To me, it feels like a little gun when I'm carrying it, and a big gun when I'm shooting it, and that is pretty much the ideal situation for a carry gun. I was skeptical, since my Shield has been fantastic and the 26 is a three decade old design, but you know what? I freaking love it. It’s too thick to replace my Shield 9 for general CCW use, so I use it as my around-the-house concealed pistol- an “answer-the-door” gun. It’s one of the most natural point-and-shoot pistols I’ve ever owned, I feel like I’ve been shooting it for years. The 12-round Magpul mags are perfect, with G19 mags if needed.
