I’m not an instructor but I’m a cadet staff sergeant in a leadership position, and the excuses I always hear are “I left it at the dry cleaners” or “I forgot it was today” and “I just didn’t wanna wear it.”

Get this, I’m the Inspector General for my unit. In my period especially, I’m hearing things such as “I forgot it was a uniform day.” This irks me, since our uniform days never change unless school is off that day. I automatically give them a 0, no make up, and continue on. (AFJROTC)

I understand the 0, but not the make-up's part, not everyone will remember what happens the next day, people have their own lives and circumstances that cause you to forget things. At the very least you should allow make-ups.

Not instructor but im a captain/S1 so i run inspections when i sit in on classes or do promotion boards. Most commonly “its in the dry cleaner” but the craziest or dumbest was when i cadet going for E-6 said they were never issued a jacket… after wearing it multiple times…

I will start enforcing receipts and proofs for excuses now. Plus we have make up days for them to wear their uniforms on any other day of the week to make up the excuse. Can't make an excuse every day can you?
