So grateful for your lessons! I have been married to the nicest man you could think of for nearly 61 years. He was raised catholic, but has never gone back to his church in all these years. He has supported me in all my callings, at times he has come to church with me, Easter, Christmas, mu birthday… our children have been blessed and baptized and have gone to church with me until they were teenagers. Something must have happened to our daughter when we were at a small branch, which she never told me about until just lately. She totally dislikes the church. Our son is more like his father. He supports me, he is ok with me teaching his children and praying with them. I pray for all of them every day. Some days I feel discouraged, but praying helps. I do try my best. I hope it will be good enough that maybe one day, if not here, we will,be together. If you ever feel that you have some time for me, please include me in your prayers! ❤🇨🇦

Sister Renate, please know that the struggles you have are not unique to you. Many people in the Church struggle with family members who are not involved in the Church to varying degrees. Keep up the good work, and one day (whether in this life or the next), you'll get the eternal rewards that are promised to those who keep their covenants. Know that you're loved and that we are praying for you! :)

My dad called me and my siblings 5-talent people. He labeled the “talents” as follows: 1. The light of Christ (everyone is born with that). 2 The scriptures. 3. Baptism. 4. Priesthood. 5. Temple covenants. He said that as we magnified those talents we would receive 5 more including calling and election made sure! Thanks so much for your interpretation on this parable! Taylor and Tyler, I was so touched once again about the story of the Widow's mite. I have a story. I have worked in the trenches with people who had nothing. They came to the facility where I worked for respite and healing. Most often they were lacking food, adequate clothing, and sleep because where they laid their heads was cold, hard, and dangerous. I loved nurturing them back to health as a team. Letting them sleep in clean warm beds and eat good food. It started them back to regaining mental sanity and health. Here is the gift they gave me. As I got to know my people from the streets, I learned a valuable lesson and definitely what I consider a gift. Like the widow who gave all she had, many of these downtrodden people would literally give the clothes on their backs to help another. They shared their meager food and even if they found warmth where they laid at night, they shared their blankets, boxes, newspapers to cover another. When I got off work late at night, many times I would drive away from our facility with tears falling from my eyes as I watched people who weren't getting off work to go home to a warm bed, sharing what they did have. It changed how I did things and I found ways to give of myself and substances. I was given a gift and an opportunity to understand the widow. Sometimes we need to dig deeper and open our eyes to those around us. Thank you for all you share from your tables of wisdom and love. ❤

I'd been beaten down by prolonged illness and prayed as you asked to know, "What is my spare vessel and what is the oil within?" Thank you! I believe that at the end of his life when Peter hung upside down suffering beyond measure, his hope and peace draining from his body (as it must have done when he denied the Lord at the beginning of his ministry) he could have used the power of 'Words' to witness of the Saving power of Jesus Christ... even in his pain. If so, even if none but the Lord and he himself heard the 'Words' of Praise... it would have been enough to open the extra vessel of oil and pour it into his soul where Jesus Christ could light the fire of Hope to carry on to the end. Thank you. My fire has again been lit and I rejoice in Jesus Christ who is my Light!

So helpful. Another brain fog day … study and focus is difficult and this helps me feel the spirit. At one point I loved how the thought of the “second best time is now “ popped into my head a minute before you said it! And then loved how you rephrased it later. And then Matthew 25:40 was on my mind yesterday as I was picking out a scripture to put on our ward bulletin. I love that you love that. It is a wonderful contagion. So greatful for teachers that love what they teach be it science, art, or faith. I have been so blessed in my life with such teachers. I only hope that I can get well someday and be able to bless the lives of others more. The joys of the spirit are so worth any sacrifice!

Thank you so much Bro Halverson and Bro Griffin. I love what you said Bro Griffin about how we will recognize the Lord when we see him, Wow! I believe that too. Those words and counsel are so personal. Because he walks with me everyday, and because I really do strive to live my life in a way where the spirit is with me, I know it wont be an issue of recognition when I see him. He is already in my soul he is already in my heart, I know him already. I get teary eyed thinking about it. I am looking forward to the day he comes. I know the world is going to get worse before that time, but it doesn't matter to me when I know the Saviour is going to be on the other side of those difficulties. I love what Bro Halverson said about putting harmful substances into our bodies as opposed to the body. It's a great question, one of those ' let's just sit with that thought for a moment'. It is a wonderful yet thought provoking point. I love the whole discussion on the parable of the ten virgins along with the amazing insights. I always thought the virgins who were not prepared made conscious everyday decisions to misuse their time. I think it was also a reflection of priorities. Somehow they didnt prioritize the Saviour in their everyday lives, so of course they were not ready when he showed up. That's one of my takes. I could listen to these discussions all day. They are soulful and really do get to the core. Thank you again for all your beautiful insights Bro Halverson and Bro Griffin. I love your classes. Regardless of how busy I am I will always make time to come to this channel ♥️.

Thank you so much for your insight and emphasis. I have been an Ordinance Worker in both the Mesa and Gilbert temples for over nine years. I had to be released recently because of health reasons. In my interview with the temple president when I was released he asked me to do him a favor and go home and pray to ask my Father in Heaven how He felt about my service. I have never thought of this scripture before in this context, though I have read it many times. But the thought that kept running through my mind for several days after was, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

I'm so grateful for you guys and your dedication! I find it interesting that the people in Jerusalem still thought they were going to be delivered from the Romans, etc. when they shouted hosanna, but when the Nephites shouted hosanna, Jesus immediately gave Nephi the authority to baptize and started telling the Nephites to repent and be baptized, thus telling them how to be saved. Both groups of people had the same prophets and prophecies until 600+ years before, but the Nephites understood what they were asking and got the answers for salvation, whereas the Jews did not. In a religious context so full of traditions they had lost the meaning of what they believed in the 613 rules.

As an historian of the experiences (braiding the senses and emotions with all other historical topics and research) coupling D&C 130:1-2 with the lamps is pretty thrilling. Having the oil vessels and the bag of oil is not enough. Having the oil in and lit, proffering light, and holding it out and watching, we can only then “see Him as He is.”

The widow’s mite being worth more than all the donations from the wealthy is another instance where God’s ways are not like our ways (see Isaiah 55:8-9). Like you said, she made an investment in her mansion in Heaven - the most glorious reward we could hope for - with an insignificant amount of money. I love trying to wrap my brain around God’s perspectives. It stretches how I perceive everything and sometimes that stretching hurts. Thank you both for your fabulous instruction on our Come Follow Me lessons.

My mother died too young. I was in my 30's. I love her so much sometimes, even in my 70's, it hurts so much to be apart from her. Even though I know I'll be with her again, I miss her so much. One night many years ago I dreamed she and I came into a huge office together. There were no cubicles and no people but the two of us, just desks everywhere and typewriters and papers on all of them. It looked like people had been working at each of the desks. We went from desk to desk working at different ones for a time, but we were togther. Suddenly, my mother got up from her desk of the moment and walked toward a blank wall. Then the wall turned into extremely tall double doors that opened all the way. A light shone on the other side so bright I couldn't see anything inside. My mother began to walk through the doors, so I began to follow her. She stopped me and told me I couldn't come with her. I didn't understand, and I began to cry. The giant double doors closed behind her, and I cried and cried. I cried myself awake. I knew to a degree what it meant. But the full meaning didn't hit me until you talked about the door shutting to the virgins without the oil. I cried and cried again remembering how it felt when those doors shut me away from my mother. I'm still crying as I write this.

That is a tender story! Thanks for sharing. The good news for each of us, still on this earth, is that we don't have to be the 5 unwise virgins. Even if we haven't lived our lives well, we can change right now and become prepared. It's never to late to get on the Covenant Path and to stay on it.

When you had written 5 and 2 on the board, it instantly reminded me of the 5 loaves and 2 fish that fed the 5000. The boy had faith to give what he had and knew Jesus would multiply his offering. If we do what we can with what we are given, I'm sure miracles will happen too 😊. Maybe the 5 and 2 talents, wasn't a coincidence but a reminder of what the Lord can do 😊.

@Scripture Central Thank you. I have a few I could mention. When I was going through my darkest time of my life a few years ago, I just hung on to Jesus through consistant scripture study and family history work, and He carried me through that deep water out onto the other side. Also, when I give a talk at church, I get so nervous. But the miracle is those who listened said I sounded confident and no nerves whatsoever. Prayer is such a great blessing, too. It's like putting my hand into my Saviour's hand and trusting that everything will work out.

The thing is we ourselves now living, we will not even be around were all these truths and prophesies come to pass, we will all be in the other side of the veil. The point is; be faithful or live your lives as we were about to see the last of the three great Second Coming. Living our lives focus on BECOMING LIKE CHRIST,

I majored in English and minored in Spanish. One of my courses was the first half of British Literature. One of the things we studied was Dr. Faustus. I commented that I thought Dr. Faustus wasted the twenty years he sold his soul for, playing with the Pope's hat while the Pope was at dinner, stuff like that. Then at the last second he tried to repent. "Nope, too late!" 😮

It's been quite a spiritual feast this week Love the digital video and architectural explaination of the Temple structure and acoustics. It really helped to appreciate the discourse on the widows' mite. She was truly honoured today in your teaching. Embrace the light and not focus on the darkness... What can I do today to add more oil to my lamp...that I may see Him as He is and He in turn will know me... Taylor and Tyler truly you are gifted to teach, appreciate you sharing your 'Talents' 💕 Thank you all at Scripture Central, we know your talents make them look good 🥰

Also there are "Many who say (Jesus is the Christ) who have not the authority of Christ through the Priesthood nor know His ways (although they may mean well) God can know their hearts and what they are trying to do.This could be another meaning of this verse. Oil in the lamps, "spiritual preparedness" are we prepared to meet the bridegroom. are we the foolish virgins unprepared. without our wedding garments? without price payed by utmost sacrifice. Are we sufficiently awake? Awake to hearken his message. this conversion process must begin now. This call to awaken to the work of our own salvation is here. We cannot think we can inherit the Highest kingdom of Heaven with out the Mighty change of heart. the Door is shut, it is in this life that we must need to work out our salvation. Our loving father in Heaven wants to work with us. he wants to lead us back to him. but we must be Awake to hearken to the call. to do the work. the work of perfecting our own souls in Christ. this is a message of warning, of Love and mercy. we must take upon ourselves the divine characteristics. virtues to replace vices. Light to replace darkness. take inventory of our spirituality. not by our own perspectives lest we be decieved. rather ask God and recieve a omniscient assesment. suffer God's chastening. and become Sons and Daughters of the Most High. Continue in your pursuit of Light until you are glorified. there is much work to do. do not give up. the advesary may combine against your divine effort to be more like your Savior. However this is a divine work, take the Lord as your guide. Pray to your Father in Heaven for instruction on how to become exalted. Let him guide you in everything. He will not abandon you, especially as you are working on your own soul. Listen to the spirit...the still small voice. this is HIS guidance to you through the Holy Ghost. Remember the sacrifice of all earthly things. remember strict obedience to his will. He will lead you along. and you shall soon find as Jesus Christ has... "Be of good cheer for I have OVERCOME THIS WORLD."

I love your teachings because you present not only the gospel as revealed by prophets but the historical setting. Great insights to fully understand the message. My question is regarding verse 30. What are we to understand is the “sign of the Som of man” in the heavens to be?
@scripturecentralofficial
@scripturecentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're glad you find the teachings helpful. 😊 Regarding your question about the "sign of the Son of Man" in the heavens (Matthew 24:30), there isn't a specific, detailed explanation provided in the scriptures. However, it is commonly understood that this sign will be a miraculous event or manifestation in the heavens that will signal the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. We can glean a few insights from modern revelation and teachings as well. For example, in Doctrine and Covenants 88:93, we read: "And immediately there shall appear a great sign in heaven, and all people shall see it together." Although we do not know the exact nature of this sign, it will be unmistakable and globally visible. This miraculous sign will be a testimony to the world that Jesus is returning in power and glory, marking the beginning of a new era of peace and righteousness. It's important to have faith in the Second Coming and be prepared by living according to the gospel principles. As we seek to follow Jesus Christ, we can trust in His promises and look forward to His triumphant return.

I also think that the reason the 3rd servant viewed his master as harsh is a reflection on what type of servant he is. The first 2 received praise because they worked hard. The third servant was reprimanded for neglecting his duties. Was that a reflection of the master's character or the character of the servants? Taylor, I would be curious to know what the final grades are for the students with favorable reviews and the students with unfavorable reviews. 😉

I was totally thinking, i would be the one giving up my oil for others to make it. And if that isn't an actual pattern of my life, I don't know what is. And does Christ really want us giving ourselves to others if it takes away from his work? If you think you're doing good but you are spiritually physically and mentally drained to the point you are no good for the The Lord, God, yourself or others, think again. I find myself in a very very rough spot. But then I feel guilty for being so burnt out and overextended that I feel completely selfish and because I have not been valiant in my covenants, I don't have the strength of the Lord with me to serve those I'm serving

definitely a lot more we can learn from the widows mite! this requires one to seek with an open mind.. without an open mind, there wouldnt be room to learn what christ was actually trying to teach with this lesson! just wish you guys couldve expounded on this and teach something from a deeper point of view.

The 10 virgins are members of the church, the 5 wise refers to those members who are faithful in making and keeping baptismal/temple covenants, storing up spiritual strength and spiritual gifts by connecting with God’s power/grace and making the effort to continue to do so.
