I absolutely loved it when that female Lt. got the F-16. That's the reaction of someone who's worked very hard for a dream and achieved it.

@@keymind117 You just don’t want to agree, don’t you. If it was easily achievable, everyone would do it. The air force gives out very few fighter airframe slots. That is considering that most people in that room are more than qualified to be fighter pilots. But because of extreme competition and sheer luck, she made it. Bless her, and you should too.

I was a FAIP. Easily the best thing that ever happened to my career you never know how things will turn out. Realized years later I was blessed to not fly a fighter, would have been an awful life. (Clearly a cool job, but awful pilot life).

@@shred907 not a big deal :) No offensive I just got impressive about his action in the middle of chaotic situation. As a military senior officer, he kept the flag from falling down on the ground, as a foreign military officer I just watched that moment pretty impressive.

Only 3 people got fighters!( f-16s) It is competitive to get fighters because it only makes up 15-20% of Air Force Aircraft.

Most of them guys picked heavy track. If you select fighter track you’re more than likely to end up in a F16.

I think if you choose to be trained in the T-38 you get a fighter/ bomber or FAIP if you do bad. if your on a T-38 and do well you have a really high chance of getting a fighter. people not on the t38 will get transport or tankers. surprised i never see a awacs or electronic warfare .

Let me get this straight. Is this the setting where the students hear their follow on assignments for the first time? And why were those students cheering when they received a 135 or 130 assignment? Back in the day we were rank order and called into a room and picked our assignments, ie #1 went in first followed by #2 & etc.

Not enough Gs in the world could make up for unsustainable deployment tempo, poor quality of life, and garbage bases of ACC. I'll gladly cheer for my 135 in Florida/England/PNW. All the "back in my day"-ers seem to have all left, must have not really been that good, ehh?

ToyFrog The last I read about it, they’re undeniably hanging on to it since no other plane has given comparable results nor make any appeal to the psychological warfare the a-10 brings

The hierarchy have been trying to do that since about 1990- or at least pretending to so they can put other stuff in the budget request, knowing that the Army will make sure that Congress will keep funding it.
