In 1983 I was one of the JSA Tour Guides (SP4 Hall). Quite a lot has changed in the details I see but mostly it has stayed the same. In a 6-month period I gave tours to over 10,000 people from about 108 different countries. The place has a lot of sad history and based on North Korea's behavior that is not changing anytime soon. I never had the opportunity to take the full tour myself, yet it is and always will be an incredible experience.

EXCELLENT video. I am in the midst of planning a 3 week trip to Seoul and the DMZ is on my agenda. I will book with the company you recommended.

There are a limited number of JSA tours so I recommend booking as far ahead as possible. In fact a a few months ago, when that US soldier ran into North Korea, they stopped the JSA tours. I assume they’re running them again, but I’m not 100% sure.

That’s crazy! You went to the blue buildings! I’m watching this video and now planning my trip❤❤❤ love from poland

Glad you liked the video!! Most DMZ tours DO NOT include the JSA (the blue buildings) so you really need to look around and find one that does. I don’t think there are many. Have a great trip!!

This is so cool, so unfortunate that the tours are so limited tho

It is very unfortunate. Hopefully things will loosen up. Thanks for watching!

Hello this is so cool! May I ask you where you booked your tour ? And if its open to anyone ? Or military?
@90293Mike Жыл бұрын
It was through VIP Travel in Seoul. Right now I believe there are only a few tours available every month from what our guide told us. The tours are open to everyone. I thought VIP did a great job and seeing the JSA was a bucket list item for me.

unbelievable... so exciting.... How to book this tour? And the price? Thank for sharing!
@90293Mike Жыл бұрын
I linked the tour company in the description. The cost was about $150 US. Definitely higher than other DMZ-only tours but worth it to me.

I included a link in the description to the tour company I used. However it looks like they are already sold out for May ☹ Thanks for watching!

I just booked mine for June, it was about $150 USD. Im very happy I was able to get a tour for the week I will be in Korea!
@90293Mike Жыл бұрын
@@RuffmanTravels That’s what I paid. At first I thought that was high, as the typical DMZ tour is less than $100. But after taking the tour, I felt it was worth every penny to be able to see the JSA. Thanks for watching!

So lucky to see the JSA. You must of been the last tour group to see it.

@@MrCaptainSisko I had no idea at the time. The tour guide said they were opening up again. Then stuff happened. Live long and prosper.

@@90293Mike I REALLY wanna see the JSA I even messaged the United Nations Command on when they will open again but they still don’t know after that incident last year with Travis King.

Terrible tour guide. Not knowing/correcting himself. He and his commanding officer(s) should know better.
