Thank you very much Fr, I'm new in this very important work today was my first time was told to wash these cloths normally, but I soaked them overnight in clean water then poured that water in my house potplants.Folding them is a real challenge but your video is of great help.

Hello Father. Thank you so much for this video. I have just been given the honor of caring for the altar linens. I wanted to be sure I get it done correctly. You explain it all so well, this is a very good video for anyone who is just beginning to care for the sacred linens. God bless you.

Well done explanation but I have one slightly different opinion: The first "purificator" seems to be a Lavabo towel, at least that's how I have always learned. The purificator's cross is in the centre, every cloth that size that has no cross or another symbol in the centre is a Lavabo towel, especially if there is a cross on the bottom edge. I also produce altar cloths myself and design them this way.

Thank you father, now I can show my sacristan colleagues a correct way to fold the corporal.

Thank you. I inherited this, as you say privilege of washing the corporal and purificators, in recent weeks. I was not given particular instructions and well it was really bugging me. I was not instructed to soak in water and pour into the ground. Thank you, thank you. So should I mention this in confession?

I take care of the linens and have always let them soak from the time I pick them up after 10:30 Mass until the next morning. It sounds like they don't need to soak in water like that. We do have a sacrarium and I can rinse them out there. What is the proper length of time for them to soak? Thank you Father for all the wonderful instructions you have provided.
@jsignal3 жыл бұрын
I am not aware of any specific length of time that is required. The goal is to make sure we don't flush particles of the Eucharist down the regular drain. So soak long enough, or rinse long enough, to prevent that. The way you were doing it is not wrong. Thanks for your service!

The corporal and purificator should be rinsed at the church in the sacrarium which drains directly into earth, not the sewer system. This safeguards mishandling of the linens outside of the church and loss of sacred species fragments during transportation or at home.
@jsignal3 жыл бұрын
Yes. As long as the church has a sacrarium. For some reason, many churches don't have them or got rid them. I don't understand why that's the case, but it has been my experience. In that case, I've always instructed people to put the rinse water onto the earth and NOT the sewer.

I really have an important question about this, but it is kind of private. Can I have your email or give you mine. I truly believe Jesus is Present in the Holy Eucharist, but I don't know what to do.
