Why I bought an Asus Rog Ally X in 2025

Bought mine a few weeks ago and definitely not disappointed. Love it and it is so amazing to play COD BO6 on it. I take it to work and play before and after my shift while I wait on my ride. I did my research on handhelds before I got this and this is the one that impressed me the most and it hasn’t let me down. I even play on it more than my Xbox series X.

I returned mine because the right stick is too close to the screen. Touching the touchscreen messed up my gameplay.

@@baljiibatmunkh5218 Nice! What are you playing on it? It’s so good, but man it’s pricey😅I got mine open box so it was cheaper, plus in Canada right now we have no tax on some things which includes consoles so that saved more money.

@ ordered it when it was $699 USD but yeah still a bit expensive. Playing Halo MCC and my old steam library games. Need to start emulating ASAP.

Nice! And man, Halo MCC looks and runs really good on it! There's a lot of newer games that run surprisingly well on it too, plus all the emulation adds another layer and level! ALSO, I haven't checked it out myself yet, but I've seen videos and blogs on it that praise it; check out this Steam App called "Lossless Scaling" (has a picture of a yellow duck) as it can apparently give you a significant boost in FPS if set up properly (there's KZbin videos about it on the Rog Ally X or just on any PC device in general).

Personally, based off of experience with the Rog Ally X and lots of research of all the various handhelds: Yes, I think so. Now, compared to the Legion Go 2, on paper the Legion Go 2 has a slight advantage in power but I don't think it's going to be enough to warrant it over the Rog Ally X which I think still is the better choice. That said, all I can recommend is to do as much research as you can to figure out what you think would best suit your likes and needs.

@@JSkeleton I just got mine too bro, now see the MSI Claw AI+8 that has better speakers than the Ally, same battery size, and is 8 inches. And it's running things quite a bit smoother if not certain things the same till the drivers get optimized in a few months. Kinda regretting getting my X (slightly) and feeling some FOMO.
