Greyhounds are generally super gentle. They have super soft mouths, not like retrievers in that they don’t chomp, just in general, they weren’t made to be jaw oriented and they don’t have that aggressive streak. I’ve had greys my whole life, my mother started fostering in the early eighties. Our family always had sighthounds, Afghans and borzois so when we started with the retired greyhound lifestyle we quickly learned how sweet their natures are. The issue of sleep space aggression is the only problem we’ve had, they DO startle easily, not all of them, but many, and it is ultimately sad, sad because it’s a product of them not being socialized as little babies.

yes i know we all wish they could keep her but just remember, every foster fail is potentially less availability for them to foster more dogs. so the best thing foster parents can do, if they have a passion for helping socialize dogs until they find the perfect home, is to give them tons of love and help the dogs be ready for the next adventure coming their way, then do it again! there's a reason why fosters exist rather than just adoptees.
@pinklou45982 жыл бұрын
totally agree, as much as i think she is a perfect fit for the solomitas it will be depriving the chance of another foster of being in a loving home, any dog would be so fortunate to have j&j as their foster folks and they all deserve that love no matter how long for (still lowkey hope they keep lobby but continue to foster)

This is such an excellent comment. I want to Foster pets and kiddos but I always say I don't know if my heart could handle it. I believe the shoe stealing is a couple things. One, that she loves Julien. Two, that it's a self soothing scent thing. Having Julien's scent in her bed is comforting and taking a shoe outside like we saw is comforting. Maybe that's her love language? Lol I'd suggest bringing a towel with her new owner's scent into the house for a week before she leaves. As well as sending a towel or old t-shirt with Julien's scent with her. Idk if I'd be able to let her go, she's too sweet! 💞💞💞

It can be difficult but I think it is also about your mindset! I fostered a dog once (and I would love to do it again) and I just kept the mindset that I would not be keeping her. It was sad to see her go and I missed her for a little while afterward but I knew that I had done my part -- we identified some health issues while she was in my care -- and she was ready to find her forever family. I should also add that at the time, I was not monetarily stable enough to keep a dog, which helped. I was still in college too, and didn't feel like I could make a 10+ year commitment since I didn't have any clue where my life would be going. That's why I had chosen to foster in the first place instead of getting a dog. I wanted a dog as a companion but i knew it wasn't the right time for me to commit to one, so I decided to foster instead :)

The best bet is for you to keep feeding her outside, let her gain more and more trust with you, and eventually she’ll probably show you her puppies.

Haha I love how Kermit ran away from the scene of the crime after Lobster stole the shoe. Kerm was like “ohhh nooo, we can sniff but we can’t steals, I can’t be associated with this behavior, BYE!” 🤣

She's absolutely beautiful, it's so wonderful of you both to be fostering. When I got my Arnie I fell head over heels in love with greyhounds, I'd have 100 of them if I could!!! 🥰 Thank you so much for caring for these beautiful pups. Much love.

I love the jokes about it not being stock footage of greyhounds when Julien's style is so distinctive there's no way you'd get it confused for stock footage

Fostering/adopting is one of the most rewarding things out there. It's amazing to be able to change a dogs life simply by showing it what love is.

I've always loved watching the iggys and Bunny on your channels over the years, but I really think Miss Lobster has truly solidified the fact that I would love to adopt a grey someday, she just seems like the best little buddy 🥺

And then the clouds parted, and Julien started doing doggo videos again 😊🌞✨ Can't express how much I needed to see this today and how much I appreciate the recent vids of the dogs. Also, that moment when Lobster is lying on her back and literally smiling...🤗

It's so nice to see just how passionate Julien is about helping Greyhounds. He's honestly the best foster dad for any animal. He's so calm and willing to meet them where they are. Watching how animals just melt in his presence is so heartwarming. Whoever adopts Lobster is going to be so lucky, she's so sweet.
