You probably know this already so sorry for the lateness. Beautiful. You may wonder why such a thing was a punishment in hell. In those days writing music was called “pricking” or ”noting” and had the useage of a sexual pun, as well as pricking the parchment or paper with a sharp awl. Look closely at the barbed tongue, not a pen. As an aside, Shakespeare’s romantic comedy was originally spelt- Much ado about noting, but has been more recently bowderalised.

I don't know if Bosch had any musical composition experience, but if he didn't, imagine the conversation he had to have to get the sheet music to put into the painting.
@MarquisForneus9 ай бұрын
It could be one of his apprentices that did that. Painting was very much a collaborative back then.

Reading the manga berserk at the moment , one of the panels foreshadowing "all hell about to break lose" is a touching tribute to this painting. The vibe is already tense . But my word........ Reading that manga with THIS PLAYING? EPIC DUDE! YOU MADE MY DAY FUCKING CATCHY. MORE PROOF TO BACK THE PHRASE "ASS DONT QUIT"

While listening to this beautiful music, I wondered if Mr. Bosch had friends who would drop by his studio and hangout, talk about what he was doing, and give him suggestions for his masterpiece. What if one was a musician who did write this piece, and suggested to include it in the painting...or someone suggested or Bosch thought of it...who knows. So much happens in the studio!

We all agree that if this haunting melody is played at the intersection of the right energy lines in the right forest at midnight on Hallowe'en we *will* open up a new portal to Hell, right? PS Kudos to everyone involved in bringing this to life! It's exquisite! I am awed by how music and art continues to speak to us, even through time and space.
