Hey, Nice job on the Plugs and Spring swap. In my 50 years of wrenching I've changed many spring packs from cars to heavy trucks. Half the time reusing the U bolts. if they look good and not detreated. I know many will cringe at that, but, using common sense works for me, never a problem. I too have kaegi's remote reservoir. I like to use air hammer to tap in freeze plugs.

Thanks for the video. I’m studying all of yours closely.🙂 Starting to tear down a ‘48 myself. I’ve read elsewhere that we shouldn’t reuse the spring u-bolts, but sounds like VPW recommended it?

Yes they did. They sell some for other models but not for these.

If the engine is stuck and won't free up is it difficult to find a replacement?

@@dlucas527 Dodge made a lot of them even for industrial use so you should be able to find something. However it’s always better to have the original if you can. Mine was stuck when I got it. Stuck valves is very common. Patience, penetrating oil, and heat.

@@JDawghasaTruck good to know. I don't mind performing a valve job if needed. I want to do it all myself. I live in Nashville. A great mechanic is hard to come by. I am traveling the world at the moment. I will see what I can find when I return. It will be a good project for my grandson and I.
