This was the year I started watching the NFL...sure the Browns, Colts, Cowboys, and Rams were the powerhouses but you could feel the 49'ers and the Vikings were are on the rise...also started ordering those great Dave Boss posters for the bedroom.

One of NFL Films' best documentaries. Love the music, narration (except "rape" of Cleveland) This was the year the game won.

This film is one of my all time favorites from NFL Films. ‘68 was a great NFL season, though well before my time. But experiencing it through films like this is great! It’s especially noteworthy how they were able to just let the music and clips tell the story with little-to-no no narration from 21:03 to the end.

Funny. The mysterious music as the Jets beat the Colts. It rolled right as the NFL logo faded at the very end. That was the NFL showing it still didnt believe it lost in Super No. 3. Only those who were old enough to remember and understand can relate how big that Super Bowl loss was for the NFL

I think it was a big loss for the moment. But this great feat by the Jets saved both the Super Bowl and the NFL in the long run. It made the Super Bowl the true proving ground for all teams. It put Pro Football ahead of Baseball for good as THE National Sport. It gave the games added drama. It out the NFL on the path to being the best drama and entertainment bar none.

The more I see of those Colts teams, the more I understand why they were expected to crush the Jets.

Crushed me when he was traded. I was 11 years old. We moved back home to KC. I rooted for Miami in the Christmas game because of Warfield. I take it back now. Doesn't help "we", Chiefs, still lose. Things have worked out. Still Brownies fan. Buckeye's too.

The way the Browns would sleepwalk through those 1968, 1969 title games, you'd almost think the games were fixed.
@jstube36

Perhaps if the games were close. But they got buried in both games. And Keep in mind the Vikings destroyed them 51-3 at the Met during the 69 season. Then did the same in the Title game to show it was no fluke.

@@patricksmith5282 I think that Super Bowl might have been rigged. Baltimore's first half performance in moving the ball intimated that they could have run the Jets into the ocean. The Cowboys, or Vikings, that year, could have beaten the Jets handily.

Not sure. Could be something borrowed from a TV series, of something else. Early NFL Films music did this a lot. That was before Sam Spence came and put his own signature on NFL Films music.

I love pro football before 1968, and I love pro football after 1968...... but I have to say that 1968 is my very favorite season. Just speaking for myself, 1990 was when pro football started going downhill, in almost every aspect, most especially with the abolishing of free-agency. Today's lily-white, indoor stadiums, and a bunch of unappreciative, kneeling fat-asses just isn't interesting to me anymore. God bless our pro football heroes from a bygone era.🏈
