As a JSU alum, it is BEYOND TIME we find a good announcer for the boom! The guy who does the announcing at the beginning does a decent job but Dr. James was a WHOLE LOT better. I know it's hard to fill his shoes but we need to find someone who comes close. The dance routine announcing was so horrible that it was nothing but silence and where I was sitting some people were even booing!! It was so cringe worthy and almost upsetting to see that on homecoming. I was thinking the whole time who thought that was a good idea for the lady to do that announcing towards the end!!?? It was like after the J-Sette routine the show started to crash and burn and if it wasn't for them doing JSU Rocks the house the momentum would have never picked up! We need to stop playing around with the announcing and start trying to find someone who announces just as excellent as the boom performs.

I completely agree with the announcing. But another reason the crowd was low energy was because the band kind of left the crowd hanging the first half. They barely played, and it was desperately needed. And by half time the crowd was already disengaged. I guess the band didn't feel the need to play with no other band to compete with, but I've never been in a crowd of 60,000 that was so quiet. The energy was very low the whole game, I fear.

l did not graduate from Jackson State l am an Alumni of Alabama State Univ. But l do enjoy watching Jackson State Marching band the jsettes, and other various hbcu bands as well. And JSU did a wonderful halftime show.

I've noticed for the last 8 or 9 years how the announcing for the Sonic Boom has almost taken a back seat. While the Boom has upheld the traditions and upheld the legacy, the announcing has been somewhat neglected. When Dr. James announced for the band he took it very seriously. He was the voice of the Sonic Boom since the 1970s until his health declined and to hear how the announcing has been done lately has been kinda sad because the standard is not there anymore. I went to MVSU but we would go vsit JSU almost every other weekend. I can say that the Sonic Boom are awesome. I also think that HBCUs have the best marching bands in the country.
