Olly is one of the only guitarists in the modern metal scene that can do the whole "Djent" thing and make it sound fresh. He has his own instantly recognisable style, his riffs are unique and flow together beautifully, and he writes genuinely good songs. He is, without a doubt, one of the best guitarists in the scene at the moment.

Some of the most successful guitarists off all time weren't really that good. Munky and Head from Korn are an example, probably the most wealthy and successful guitarists of all time playing power chords and using cool effects. Same with Linkin Park. Being good at guitar doesn't mean you write good, listenable songs (Ygnwie Malmsteen).

I play a Strat with a setup that makes most predominately electric players look at me in horror and ask: "Why do you have the action so high on this?" The reason is that I need the guitar to push back a little bit. I'm mostly an acoustic player. This makes me want to buy a guitar like this and keep it set up with a buttery smooth action. I initially raised the action to make it difficult to fall into holdsworthian ruts. It helped me find my own voice. Now I figure I should be able to play like me, on any guitar. This was pretty mind blowing. thanks.

Olly is just absolutely phenomenal. I’m so glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves. He lived is Browne’s shadow all of these years, not to take anything from Browne, but they are both individually so good and need to be recognized. It’s a treat they write music together and separately. Also, the aesthetic for this video and the artwork for this single is an entire vibe.
