Great interview JT. I was a huge Bulls fan in the 1990s growing up watching those legendary teams led by the "Zen Master" coach Phil Jackson. You could tell back then he led his players differently, thinking about them as being better people and not only players. Be who you are. Its not about the money, but the relationships and loyalty....and of course be coachable. Good takeaways from this.

I think people are slightly misled by Phils answer MJ was extremely coachable. Compared to Kobe and Shaq , yes. However, don't forget when Phil and MJ first hooked up in basketball MJ had 7 years of being able to score score score. MJ was reluctant with Phil at first, Phil asked him to score less and michael did not like it. But in time MJ trusted phil and the vision of the triangle offense and the rest is history. I still believe personally, that MJ was very intelligent and was open minded and trusted Phil, but it took time is all.
@dfdfdgggjhjjh5081Ай бұрын
All Phil was asking for him was to go from 38 points a game down to 31, and still be the nba scoring leader. If he asked MJ to go down to 22 points a game there’s no way in hell he’s doing that.

Jordan & Kobe both became coachable at 26-27 years old. Jordan said it himself that Phil wanted to take the ball out of my hands. And they clashed at first. But Jordan had lost in the playoffs every year for 8 years and he was tired of losing so he eventually listened to Phil. I doubt very much that a 21 year old Jordan would’ve listened to Phil’s coaching methods much like Kobe at 21. Despite Kobe allegedly being uncoachable they won 3 straight Chips. With Kobe as the facilitator for the first 3 quarters and then being the closer. So saying that Jordan was more coachable than Kobe is BS.
