Got my 48" dual-free delivered last week. Griddle cover is not hinged. Bought it for serious cooking (high BTU gas burners, euro-convection, etc...), but to be honest it turned out to be quite the statement piece as well. Spent the pandemic doing my research and the most important thing I learned was that lack of good local service is a deal breaker no matter how a range stacked up. Never thought I'd buy a high end product with GE on it, however I've never been happier with an appliance decision and I worked in the industry back in the 70s.

Monogram makes a very fine range, not only does it have brass 23k burners, but it also has one of the deepest ovens out on the market. The advantage of the deeper oven is it takes commercial baking sheets! Don't forget, when you purchase any Monogram range, they give you a Monogram dish washer for free! There are also builder discounts available as well, ask your salesperson for details. Bravo Monogram!

@jthilf thanks for the informative review. I'm deciding between this range and the 48" all-gas Wolf with the griddle. In my opinion Wolf has the advantage of looks (timeless), and the infrared griddle - but I"m struggling what else it would win at? Monogram seems to win on BTU stovetop power and digital display for oven temp, and wifi tech. Not only is Monogram less expensive, it comes with a free hood insert. Wolf gives no promotions. Thoughts?
@appliancesexplained Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’ve had this conversation with a number of the Wolf fanboys in our office multiple times. IMHO, it’s no contest, the Wolf is massively inferior. If it were me making the purchase, I’m 100% going with the Monogram. I really hate to say it (me being a huge appliance snob and all), but for an All Gas 48 I’d definitely go with the GE.

I have an ancient Jenn Air I need to replace, which I use almost exclusively with two burners and either a griddle or grill (interchangeable). That advanced interchangeable technology seems to have been lost to the industry these days, so the only option to retain the burners/grill/griddle is to get a 48", which would be great, but is a real challenge to install in my kitchen for multiple reasons. The Monograms are pretty, but if that lid on the griddle is non-removable, it is a deal breaker, as I plan a backdraft (what people who don't know better call a downdraft) hood. Huge, unforced error if true, I looked at the stove and never considered trying to remove the lid, my bad, so many thanks! Also, if there is any aluminum involved with anything near heat, it is a deal breaker, I melted the aluminum griddle on my Jenn Air twice in 29 years, an expensive error.

How does the cooking quality compare with a Wolf or Thermador dual fuel?
@appliancesexplained2 жыл бұрын
Personally I prefer the burner design of the Monogram and the Thermador over the Wolf. . However if you do a lot of Baking (especially with convection), I'd recommend the Miele of the Wolf over the other two. As far as the Build Quality goes, I'd say Miele 1st, Wolf 2nd, Monogram 3rd and Thermador 4th. Most people use their burners way more frequently than they use their ovens though.

My complaint is that after cooking two meals, the brass looks like I’d been cooking for MONTHS!! I looked it up and it said that it would have a “patina” effect. NO! They look like I splash and slosh food all over the place when I cook. I had to abrasively almost sand them. But I have to do it with each burner I use, EVERY TIME!! I am a clean person and this is hard to maintain.
