Your presentation was great. However, the manual for the 800 Series is awful. It relies too much on the owner scanning QR codes to learn the simplest techniques. There is no excuse for a poorly written manual. Even though I know how to use the technology, I like to read instructions and feel that having to scan the QR code is an extra unnecessary step! There is also the fact that hackers can break into the QR codes!

TLDR: the range is not reliable and the warranty work isn’t timely. This is a beautiful range and I love the induction; HOWEVER, on January 5, 2025, when it was 7 months old, the first time we tried to use the self clean feature, we got an error message about the latch being broken. The range beeped incessantly because it wouldn't let us cancel the self clean. We unplugged it, turned the breaker off and then back on, but the beeping would always continue when the range was turned back on. Because it was still under warranty, GE was finally able to schedule a warranty repair 8 days later (so at this point, it was over a week that we'd been unable to use our range). Then after the service visit, we were told by the repairman the part was on backorder with NO ETA! So I reached out to GE again and was told they were awaiting a review by a “parts specialist” and would get back to me next Tuesday, which at that point over two weeks without a usable range JUST to find out if/when we can get the part, so there is still no definitive resolution in sight. GE should replace the range with a new one now since they have been unable to repair it in a timely manner, or give me a refund so I can buy another brand. And it's less than a year old. In summary, the range is not reliable and the warranty work isn’t timely.

I'm curious what you think about the current Wolf E series 30" Ovens? I know they just have the twin fans vs the dual vertiflow system. Do you think that's a big drawback? I'd be curious how you think a Wolf E Series compares to say something like GE Profile/Cafe/Monogram oven?
@M4ttNet16 күн бұрын
I have the Monogram version and I thought remote pre-heating was silly at first, though we've had ours for the last 3 years and it's surprisingly useful. Especially combined with something like Google home devices and lazy people like me. For example when my wife and I are waking up but still have to brush our teeth, shower, etc and we have some left over pizza (which I always reheat in the oven on a baking stone for the best results) I ask her "Hey do you want leftover pizza when we get up", then I just say "Hey Google, Preheat the Mega oven to 400 degrees" (I call it the mega oven since this is the extra large oven on our 48" Monogram range). Now when we're done getting ready our oven is already preheated, throw the pizza in and 12 minutes later good to go. Same goes for thinking ahead on say a frozen pizza or if my wife expects to bake. Usually this doesn't happen when we're out of the house, though a few times we've done it coming back from the store bringing home something frozen to bake. It's a surprisingly useful feature.

@appliancesexplained24 күн бұрын
What’s your model number and which cycle are you using?
@kennyrichter997223 күн бұрын
@@appliancesexplained We just purchased the 800 Series (model SHX78CM5N). We are trying many different settings (Heavy, Auto, Normal) with and without Sanitize and ChrystalDry options. The rinse aid compartment is filled and with every cycle we try the next day when we open the dishwasher the door is completely wet still. I understand plastics don't dry the same but it's really sad that dishwashers don't dry like they use to. We were told when this dishwasher completes its cycle the door would open, and it does not. I have since found that is a feature of the 500 series and not the 800 series. Opening the door and letting natural airflow is the only thing I find that will dry dishes these days.
@appliancesexplained22 күн бұрын
@ How strange. Since it’s still under warranty, I’d suggest setting up a service visit with Bosch for an authorized service tech to come take a look. I’ve probably sold hundreds of Crystal Dry dishwashers and never had this complaint. If you’re ever around the dishwasher right when it finishes the cycle, I’d be curious to know if the dishes are still fairly hot to the touch. If the Bosch’s final rinse is anything like the Miele I own, the dishes should be hot enough to cause your pain receptors to kick when you touch them. If they’re not that hot, it’s possible that the water temperature isn’t getting high enough. Your primary drying system in most EU dishwasher designs is just a high temperature final rinse.

It's a nice dishwasher overall, but Bosch did a really dumb thing on this one. For years and decades if you open the door and than close it - it would continue the cycle, no other actions necessary. Than some genius decided that why don't we make them press start button again. And that's how it is on this one. You open the dishwasher mid-cycle to grab a cutting board or a fork. You close it. The annoying light start blinking telling you that it's not gonna just continue the cycle. It blinks very slowly, so you not immediately realize that it's blinking, not just on. When you realize (or not, and than you will find out in the morning that dishes are still dirty) - you have to open it again, and press the start button. But it's not a normal button, oh no. It's a sensor. With no tacktile feedback. And now the water over it from when you opened dishwasher mid-cycle. And sensor is not working well when whet. But it does makes some weird noise when you try to press it, you think it's all set, close the door... notice slow blinking again (or not, see above)... You open it again, dry the "button" with towel, carefully press, close the door, wait 30 seconds to see that LED is on, not blinking.... Excellent example on how not to do things in engineering. German engineers took a good product and made it bad, for no reason at all. We have that thing (ISHP78CM5N) for half a year now, and dishes are often not washed in the morning because of this "improvement" they did. I' m seriously considering getting another brand, and would advice people to not buy Bosch models with that control panel like in this video.

We are considering the ADA version (our opening is only 33 5/8"), but the dish area is 2" shorter. Do you think we would have issues fitting full sized plates and glasses due to the height decrease?
@appliancesexplainedАй бұрын
Yeah… you might have to consider getting “IKEA” sized dishes/glasses for clearance reasons. I’d recommend you consider going with a Miele full height dishwasher (if they’re available in your area). Miele’s specifications might not show this but the leveling legs on their dishwashers ship with a 1/2 inch extension. Once you unclip this 1/2 inch “shoe” from under the foot of the dishwasher’s leg , you should gain the clearance you’ll need.
How long does the Auto setting run for? I love the filter option, how often if ever does it need replacing?
@appliancesexplainedАй бұрын
@@sarahmangone7785 The auto-wash times will vary depending on the amount of soiling on the dishes and the incoming water temperature from the supply line. The filter should probably be checked/cleaned every few weeks (or months) depending on how dirty the dishes are. So less frequently if you’re in the habit of pre rinsing your dishes and a higher frequency for normal soiling and no pre rinses. With proper care, the filter will probably last the life of the dishwasher and never need replacing.

I have a Thermador Pro that came with the house from previous owners that is about 16 years old that performs well, but has a tough time drying and I wanted a color change to match my kitchen remodel (and not have the front all scratched up). The previous owners beat the heck out of it and it still keeps going. I just pulled the trigger on a Bosch 800 SHX78CM5N vs. the SHP78CM5N shown here, on Black-Friday sale. I think the major difference is the handle design (bar) and ballbearing rack wheels (?). The 800 series are by far the most popular at the local appliance stores for the higher-end dishwashers.
