We do of course have what you might call 'public schools' here in the UK, but due to a quirk of language and history, when a Brit says "public school", they are referring to a very exclusive, usually selective school, intended mostly for the very wealthy. Schools for everyone else are just known as Schools. Like healthcare in the UK, for the moment at least, our education system is mostly socialised, and paid for by taxes. I know that the word 'socialism' is somewhat taboo in the USA, but there's plenty of things where socialised services just make sense. Nobody thinks twice about the idea of roads being built, maintained paid for by everyone's taxes, or having a refuse service drive down your street once a week to collect everyone's garbage, so why shouldn't healthcare and education also be provided this way? Interesting thought, healthcare in the UK is mostly provided by the National Health Service, and it is still the most cost efficient health service on the planet, and it's free to everyone. Healthcare in the USA is the least cost efficient health service in the world, costs approximately twice as much per person and it is only available to those with insurance.
@s.b.9073 жыл бұрын

You'll settle in well when you come over here, you're weather sounds very English! All seasons in a day 😄. A suggestion for a tattoo. We have a legend about George killing the dragon. Also there's the Welsh dragon. (Look them both up for more). So how about a dragon, maybe drinking tea with a beefeater hat on or something 😂 Also, bloke is just another word for guy or man. You're a nice bloke = You're a nice guy. And you are a nice guy and I'm loving these videos. Go you ! 😊

Andrew I agree. I have been around a bit, (I am 82) and the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire as a whole is beautiful. I was born here, lived in lots of other places in England and many years ago in the British colony of Kenya. This is the best place on earth.

On the question of healthcare in the USA Vs in the UK, you should check out Michael Moore's film called "Sicko" (available for free on KZbin), and then check out a more recent film called "The Great NHS Heist" (also available on KZbin). It will blow your mind!

@@valeriedavidson2785 I know I am English. That's what I just said. Yanks think there is a "British" accent. But they think I speak some foreign language. "And what language do you speak in your country?" " Errrrr this one!" By the way what are you calling correct standard English?

Actually American English is more conservative than British English and is closer to how English was spoken 300/400 years ago. British English actually has more innovations. Anyway, there's no such thing as "correct" English, English is a global language and doesn't belong to the English anymore. Most linguists actually talk about Englishes rather than English. American English; British English; Irish English; Nigerian English; Euro English (the lingua franca of the EU); not the mention all of the English lexified creole languages that are technically separate

I like the idea of having the guards hat as a tattoo, but on the English football shirt, it has 3 lions on it, maybe you could do one of the lions that are on the shirt. Orrr maybe u could do the English flag (or even the UK flag) I'm not sure though man. Like your idea though, idk what to think of 🤣. Anyway good vid (I'm English btw) 👁️👄👁️

@JT Reacts, if you ever make it over to the U.K. you should know in advance that the further north that you go outside of London and the southeast the cheaper it is. Add to this the fact that the entire U.K. has to have the same items on sale throughout the entire country by law and that everything that you see as the price on every item that you're considering purchasing in every shop or store is the price that you actually pay at the till. In a nutshell we don't really have sales tax as so many places in the U.S. tend to have and the only tax that we do have, namely V.A.T. is included in the price that's shown on those same price tags therefore there's no surprises when it comes to paying for any items that you purchase.

Loving your videos, only discovered your channel a couple days ago! I live in Edinburgh Scotland and I totally get your comment about having every type of weather 😂 in one of your other videos you wondered about uk weather and we do get some nice weather occasionally but a lot of cold weather and snow too - and often in the same week! I do love it though, too much heat is not my cup of tea but I adore living in Scotland as it’s landscape and architecture are beautiful. You’ll also meet some really friendly and down to earth people here too. You seem really cool and I have some really close American friends so a lot of brits do identify Americans and we don’t all have negative opinions of you guys because of your politics 👍 keep the content coming, it’s really fun to watch while I’m stuck working from home!
