2:08. Notice how his left hand is slapping the notes at the same time and space where a snare drum usually would be hit. It makes it sound more rhythmic and more full

I definitely have to get my rhythm and syncopation down like you have because I don't have no drummer to accompany me then the paster has the audacity to look at me cross eyed lol enjoyed your playing and breakdown.

😂 I've gotten my fair share of cross-eyed looks. How comfortable are you with rhythm and syncopation? Thank you for watching!

@@DrPhatChords I'm more of a Nat King Cole player. Smooth! Actually, I'm too smooth. I need to capture more of the funky groove to my playing and play fuller. I can give you the pretty stuff and passing tones all day. However, this will not do when you have pastors who want to hoop like James Brown and choirs who want to get down. Do you have any suggestions for developing a fuller funky rhythmic style of playing. Greatly Appreciate any helpful advice.

Yo! Detroit in the house! Thank you for the kind words, Jerome! Play long enough, and just like any skill, you'll get better at it. Sometimes, we get better by accident. 🤷🏽♂️😂
