I sure don’t miss those days. Dad and I had eight 860 Masseys once upon a time. If something broke, we got another machine or robbed a part to fix the one we were using. We went from that to 9860 Deere now we have an s690. 9860 burnt to the ground last wheat harvest. I understand your struggles of making old junk work. We done it for years. Keep the videos coming I look forward to them every Friday. Thanks JT

Hope you have a safe and prosperous harvest. I started out farming soybeans in the early eighties when they were around 4-5 dollars per bushel. I actually started out with a 69 model Massey 1100 and couple years later upgraded to a 1135 which I still own. I started out with a JD 45 round back and stepped up to a IH 615 in 1987. I was 14 when I planted my first crop in 1983. Watching your videos brings back memories. Great content!

I have a JD 4400 and broke the cylinder drive belt and once I got into it I figured out real quick that they all needed changed so I spent the next week changing all the belts on both sides and I'm really glad I did it that way. Still had to have help getting everything back together under the seat and I did manage to get the pump off and made sure to anti-seize it before it went back together ! Does massy Ferguson make a combine that small and old? Surprised you don’t have one…
@jtsbarnngrill6873Ай бұрын
The 510 would be exactly that same year and size as the 6600

You need a Massey combine, a 750 or a 760

to remove the pump I have found that the best tool is a 8" pipe wrench and a hammer and a 2 foot pipe on the pipe wrench. The pipe wrench is about half inch wide and it fits the shaft perfect. Even the special tool from deer slips. Just the other day I had to get a part off my 6600 to fix the 6620.

We used pipe wrenches all the time on the farm. For the longest time, I thought they were called "pipe wrench" because you pit a "pipe" on them for a extended handle.
