I had a GLX MAX 9’ 6wt rod that was my Go To for fall fishing Montana Rivers. I had it since new in 2015, and the tip had broke, I sent it in to the warranty department in Washington, they inspected the MAX GLX and within a couple days of my rod getting to the warranty return, I got an email stating my rod was inspected & would be replaced free of charge and shipped to me free of charge. Absolute the BEST WARRANTY in the Fly Fishing Industry!! 100% Hands Down! Thank You G.Loomis!!! You are the reason I only buy Loomis rods!

I have 2 NRX+ rods (Mag Bass and BJR). The SiC insert on the tip top guide of my NRX+ bladed jig rod came out this past summer (Sept 2023). I ordered when preorders opened but didn’t receive until April 2022 and didn’t fish that year because my dad got sick and passed so had other priorities. Never had a guide insert come out or any other rod problems before in my life. I contacted them via email and explained the situation. They replied back they could maybe send me a replacement tip top guide as a one time favor/ goodwill gesture. When I replied with my address and asked for clarification so I could understand about the “one time favor” comment and if this was something that should be covered under warranty, I received no response back and never received the tip top guide. I ended up finding a local guy who still does rod repairs and he charged me $30 to get the guide and replace it on my rod. Not bad at all, but the fact they just went radio silent felt very unprofessional. It’s a shame, but I will look to other brands first, before buying any more G.Loomis rods.

That is a shame. I will say that during COVID they were having a hard time to get people to work in their warehouses. It seems like your incident happened well after that, though. I've had great luck with replacements from them and hate that you had a bad experience. In the end, fish what you can afford and you have confidence in. It's all about being on the water more than the gear you use. Thanks for the comment!

I broke my Conquest 843c I got a brand new one in about 2 months. I mean that was totally understandable because Loomis doesnt make a ton of Conquests. I'm sure an NRX, GLX, IMX, or GCX would take no time at all for them to get you a new rod.

Would the xpeditor service work for conquest rod from Japan?

I really like Shimano rods, but I find myself investing in Dobyns and Phenix rods, because their warranty programs are so much better. I just feel once you spend $300 on a rod it should come with a limited lifetime warranty.

I understand what you mean about the warranty. I’ve been fishing Shimano products for the better part of 30 years. If you treat them right, they are a lifetime investment. That’s also why I have a lot of G. Loomis rods. The warranty is way better.

I don’t like the Shimano rod warranty especially for their high end rod. Definitely would look to get insurance on it if you’re spending $800 plus on a Poison Ultima.

I get it. I fish both, but also don’t own any poison ultima rods. I’ve bought more Loomis rods recently just for that thought.

Everyone always says “never buy full retail price for these and the way to go is buying second hand.” Gloomis warranty says original owner only and warranty non-transferable. Does Gloomis have any replace/repair options for second hand owners?

Not that I'm aware of. If they haven't ever registered them, you could always register them in your name.

Proof of purchase, receipt needed?
@OnAnotherLine Жыл бұрын
For a warranty claim without the Express or Xpeditor service, I assume you will need to have a proof of purchase. However, from the looks of things on the Express side, it doesn't ask for a receipt. It may on the Loomis Side, I'm not sure.

Only fishing rod I ever had brake when setting hook in fish. They would not warranty it. Won't be buying anymore more of them. Never had a cheap rod brake like that.
