Juan Gabriel asked his audience to “keep it classy” and comport themselves because that venue he is performing in had never had a non classical artist perform. His audience always got up and grooved with him xept this time out of respect for his wishes. No Mexican artist sang from the soul like Juan Gabriel. True icon.

@@tiffanybryan9759 You should look up Lola Beltran. She was the queen of this style of Mexican music and she was Juan Gabriel’s idol. They’ve even done duets and he wrote songs for her. People were holding back from dancing because the venue had forever been banned for this kind of music. The hall was only for classical music, opera and the like but Juanga wanted to sing there. At one point he said that he will not sing anywhere unless it was there. After 25 years singing he got his wish: to be the very first popular singer to have a concert there. But at the time people were frowning upon the idea thinking he, his music wasn’t worthy of the honor. That’s why the crowd was not dancing: they wanted to show all the nayers that they themselves, Juanga and his music knew how to behave respectfully. It was an historical day that one… where not only Juanga but his music and his followers were given a space among what was acceptable. It is a ridiculous thing now but back then was huge.

It is not the way he sang, or the music, it was what he was saying in all his songs... very emocional. Canción: Hasta que te conocí I didn't know what sadness means, I didn't know what tears mean, These tears that make me cry,I didn't know I knew only about affection, tenderness, Because ever since I was little, That's what my mother taught me, That's what my mother taught me This and much more I never suffered I never cried I was so happy My life was great oh My life was so different, something beautiful, divine Full of happiness I knew only about joy, about the beauty of life, I didn't know about loneliness, no About loneliness and so many other things too I never suffered, I never cried, I was so happy....My life was great Chorus(x2) Until I...met you, I started to see life with pain I'm not lying you, I was happy, Even though with so little love, And I realized too late, That I shouldn't have loved, Because now I think only of you, More than yesterday, much more I never suffered, I never cried, I was so happy... Until I met you Now I want you to tell me Whether it was worth or not the trouble Of meeting you Because I don't believe you anymore And you were so bad Yes, you were so bad with me That's why I never want I never want to see you Leave, leave, go... go away, I don't want you I never want to see you Leave
