Juan Soto to the Dodgers or the Yankees (or elsewhere)?

I can't see paying that much money to Soto, while he is a great hitter, is a poor fielder and poor base runner. At least Ohtani can pitch at a high level.

Agreed. I just don’t understand any team paying $600m for him. At least Ohtani made sense because of his abilities + the amount of revenue he can bring in. LA basically added a whole country to their fan base. The Dodgers have other needs & already have an elite lineup. The Soto rumors are just to bid up his price.

As a Dodgers fan if Soto wants to win rings, he would be smarter to sign with the Dodgers. Here’s the thing though I personally feel it would be smarter and cheaper for them sign Teoscar Hernandez instead, because the Dodgers have proven you don’t need Soto and Teoscar was superb all year, Dodgers should reward him.

@ agreed not only would Soto asked for the moon, in other words I really think he going to try to get Ohtani type contract and he’s going to want it upfront. Hopefully the Dodgers will be smart enough to realize that don’t need Soto win and frankly that money would be better served to a fraction of that to Hernandez and plug in the holes in starting pitching and shortstop.

He still hasn’t had a full year healthy in Japan, so how is he gonna last a full year in the MLB where even Senga, Ohtani and Yamamoto struggle to stay healthy? (they were all able to stay healthy in Japan)Roki himself has realized this, which is why all reports in Japan say he has changed his mind about coming this year. He understands if he comes over now and blows his arm out over the next 6 years its 400 million down the drain. He is ready to just play 2 more seasons in Japan

.285 hitter, leads mlb in on base, can play defense and improves defense year after year! Ohtani can't play in Yankees stadium, low on base and in hitting in the playoffs, who knows if he can even pitch next year, and if he keeps stealing bases he'll probably just end up on the IL...Ohtani is way more over-rated than anyone in baseball and not worth his Ohtani money!

The Padres were able to compete largely because of A.J. Preller's trades. The problem is the talent in the Padres minor league system is getting thin because of all these trades. In other words, the future is being mortgaged for the present.

Also it looks like Logan White is leaving the Padres. One of the biggest misconceptions is that Preller is responsible for the great farm systems. Truth is it’s Logan white, where were these prospects before Logan White showed up? And before he showed up he built the Dodgers into the powerhouse they were with Bellinger Seager Joc Kershaw etc

Dodgers should pass on Soto. Would rather keep Teoscar and use that extra money to bring back Buehler, Treinen and more depth. Teoscars number are similar. Soto only has 41 homeruns cause Yankees have a very short right field.

Not to mention I didn’t see a problem with Teoscar Hernandez, of course I know Hernandez ain’t nearly as good as Soto. It’s like though Dodgers just won a championship, so obviously they don’t need Soto at all, it would seem smarter and cheaper just to sign Hernandez to a nice 3 year contract after the season he had, I probably sign Teoscar to a 3 yr 100 million dollar deal.
