Another fine review as always. I love how you can review a phone's intended use rather than the cookie cutter "criteria" all other reviewers use. It's almost as if they choose a specific brand's features and designe philosophy and judge all others according to that. You actually break a phone down ans see what it can actually do. Well done.

@@jejunamja Kind of the same thing with my Zenfone 6. Good hardware and software at a good price, actually good support for two years, and then they just dropped support completely. I don't usually like to stick with a brand even twice in a row, but Asus promising a software support extension is probably all it would take for me to stick with them. Oh and admitedly, better quality controle, as it seems buying their phone at release isn't a good idea (bootloop on Zenfone 6, ramdup issue on Zenfone 8, etc...), always have to wait for later units for the problems to be fixed.

@@jejunamja I mean, as much as I hate to say it, I'm not sure how much time is left for their mobile division. The Zenfone 6 after all had a flip camera system that was difficult and probably expensive to make, ran a skin with less bloatware out of the box than even a significantly more expensive Xperia, allong with no ads at all in the Ui, not trying to push an écosystem whereas I've read even an Xperia would push a notification about another Sony product even once in a while. All from an underdog in the phone world which quit the mid-range space after a Zenfone Max series with a similar philosophy, still being overshadowed by the likes of Xiaomi. So I guess the writing was on the wall and I didn't want to see it. I still hope they will stay in the phone world as long as possible, I'm not sure how much more Asus can invest in their mobile division so maybe they can still surprise us.

Boy oh boy this has certainly put a question mark at the end of my current plans for a phone upgrade this year. This is the kind of stuff Android has been missing for a loooonng time imo. Like, the OG HTC/LG/Samsung days back when everyone was trying whacky and interesting stuff to try and compete, and no one was complacent. This feels safe where it *needs* to be safe to compete, while also providing lots of unique perks that I just don’t see anywhere else for the price.

I'm using a relatively cheap moto stylus 2021 right now. Not the best phone, but the stylus, big battery, fingerprint reader, moto gestures, and work/personal profiles make it so useful. I've been running the 22 edge+ for a year now and it's been the greatest phone I've ever owned. It never leaves me wanting for speed or snappiness while also managing to pull off weird gnish things like using ready-for to function test projector screens that I've installed for work or using the optional accessory stylus to have clientelle sign off documents for work. The multitasking is excellent with the phone running two apps at once with no issues whatsoever. And the 512gb of storage is a boon. This is much more versatile than my s21 was! Juan thanks for the excellent review. I am a long-time Moto user (I like the clean Android implementation and Moto Actions are now so ingrained in me that I recently tried to shake the light on when using my wife's new iPhone.) Imagine my delight when the 2022 Edge+ popped up on Woot for only $449!!! Naturally I bought it and am very happy with it. This is the unlocked 512 MB version, so no mm wave 5G support, but I don't miss that as mm wave is not widely available and from what I have experienced, it is a battery drain. Thanks for the Ready For review - I wasn't familiar with that feature so didn't influence my purchase decision, but it's pretty cool and I'm glad it's there. Your review helped me get more out of it. (Moto needs to provide more user info, and perhaps market this better?) I was also happy to hear your take on the more frequent updates via Google Play. People complain about the number of years of OS support but more frequent app/widget support is probably better for the user. Reminds of of when the Force 2 came out and people complained that the battery was smaller, even though it had much longer life than the previous Droid 2 model - people just needed to complain, I guess. Pro tip - if you have a USB C charger for your Lenovo laptop (probably works with other USB C laptop chargers as well), you can use it to charge the Edge+ at insane rates. Maybe you can demo this?

I've always liked motos software from the moto X. Props to you for mentioning hardware power without just mentioning geekbench score. It's how the phone functions in use cases that make the review . Thankyou. 🙏 also Flight of the navigator ftw! 🖐️

10:32 Can other Motorola devices do this? I'm considering the moto g100 as my next phone, but I'm less interested if it can't auto track the subject in the frame.

If you're walking into a Verizon store and not nabbing that moto edge you might want to see if you can swap.

@@SomeGadgetGuy it is. My Redmi Note 9S lost audio inexplicably (when rooting know what ya doin) Big selling point for me is Display Port on the Moto. There's plenty choice in that price bracket. Xiaomi 11T PRO 5G, or Black Shark 5. So far, thanks to your video I'm leaning towards the Edge+.

@jpsrandom69432 жыл бұрын
I think Motorola puts first the phone part of the device, but the software is restricted to deliver custom performance and many other power user management needs. Even their own Dex mode is kinda lacking, the true kind of productivity is the galaxy note. I had a couple of Motorola smart and "dumb" phones and they delivered an excellent phone expirience but their features were awful, I remember some erasing my SD card, others lacking basic multimedia options and many more just being bad. But again, Motorola is one of the first in the telecom game, they know a lot of the business

Sad thing is I have been through 4 of these in less than a month. So many issues. From batteries to overheating. Software and hardware issues.

Interesting comment. This is exactly what Im wanting to hear. Can you tell me some more specific details about your experience

@@droo3010 well for starters the battery usage won't reset unless the phone is on and plugged in for at least 5 minutes at 100%. If you use auto refresh rate or 144 the phone will drastically heat up just scrolling through the web or run any app. Software is very glitchy at times even after installing the first update from Motorola. Ghost touches on the side and then not registering touches when the phone is warm(not hot). I have had to do battery calibrations I don't know how many times on my first 2. The 3 rd was a mix of battery and heating. The very first one I got over heated with the screen off and no apps running and no downloads in the background. I contacted Motorola several times. My 3rd one was at 79% battery and it said the battery was extremely low. Contacted Motorola with a screen shot and then instantly told me to return. I have worked through all of their troubleshooting and stayed in contact with them through each issue. All through their Facebook page. I have the screen crap out on me. I don't remember if it was the 2nd or 3rd at this point. The 4th one, which is the one I have now, has been the best so far. Fingers crossed. Apparently after some searching the 8gen1 does have a heat issue if you look into that. If you disable the peek display the screen won't turn on when you get any notifications at all. And some music apps don't play nice with the peek display. So it's either in on and you get notifications or not and you get nothing. There are many more issues but not enough time. Now add in the stylus and folio case from Motorola and you meet a second set of issues. The display through the folio window is full brightness no matter what. You can't adjust it. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't when you pick up the phone. If you open the case while it's on, no matter what brightness your phone is set to it will be 100% till it dims back down. If you use the stylus you won't be able to input anything with your fingers if it's anywhere near the display. It becomes the only input method at all. The location of the stylus is horrible. Like it was a complete after thought. And the software for it is inconsistent when it works. But when it does it has pretty good latency. Noticable but still better than some. The gestures that Motorola baked in don't always seem to respond to the flip or chop. How ever you want to describe it. And when you do those gestures if you listen carefully you can hear something rattle around inside the phone. I have had that on all 4 that I have had. That's all I'll put for now. I know it's a lot but it doesn't cover everything. And one last thing. The screen brightness is horrible. Definitely not bright enough for sunny areas or shaded areas unless it's at 100%. So take that into account too
@bob84092 жыл бұрын
@@droo3010 one software bug I forgot to mention was that you will get random audio starts and stops from apps with the volume at mute. Doesn't matter if what the ring volume is set too. It just does it for apps if the volume is all the way down to mute.
