I was surprised to see Juanes on this But what surprised me even more is that he’s a huge metal head. 🤘🏼 I grew up listening to him as a kid & as a teen I listened to all the albums he listed, it all makes sense. & I EVEN OWN THAT SAME METALLICA SHIRT, ( I’ve been having it since middle school) This episode blew my mind completely.

Wow, wouldn't have expected _Juanes_ here. That's awesome. Dude is big time in Latin America. Even here in the States he's big. I've had/have plenty of family and friends that have been into his music (I'm of Mexican descent). Never managed to get into a lot of the music I grew up listening to from my Mom (Juanes came a little later than a lot of the stuff my Moms listens to), but I can certainly appreciate it. Medellin from mid 1980's to early 90's had one of the best metal and also punk scenes ever. PARABELLUM, BLASFEMIA, REINCARNACCION, NEMESIS, CONFUSION, ATAQUE DE SONIDO, Rodrigo D. No Futuro movie soundtrack LP to name but a few. If it was from Medellin it was probably great. The Medellin scene had an important influence on the metal underground, particularly in Norway. (Euronymous of Mayhem used to write to bands in Colombia, Brazil, Peru etc.)

He began with metal singing in a band called Ekhymosis, go and check it out, songs like "desde arriba es diferente", "Niño Gigante", even power balads like "Solo" show his quality as a metal singer. In his live shows in Ekhymosis he played covers of Metallica, Pantera and so on. Once he left Colombia to Miamo, he played bass guitar in some metal bands like angra... In Bogotá 2016 Rolling Stones show, Juanes sang and played guitar with Mick Jagger "Beast of Burden", and last year, in the biggest rock festival of Colombia, he covered "Seek and Destroy", in front of a 200.000 crowd, earning a mention in the official twitter of 'Tallica. This dude is a real rocker man
