One of the MOST BEAUTIFUL actresses of all time....what a beautiful part she played as Annie Johnson ......I cried a lot during her passing and funeral...WOW......what a well known person she was in her town in the movie.....Lana had no idea how known she must have been. Such a gorgeous movie. Beautiful people played in this movie. Steve played by John Gavin.....was a handsome man.....should have been a law against looking so handsome and dashing. Still today a very handsome man. One of my ALL TIME MOST FAVORITE Movies..... Thanks for the Post. RIP Ms Moore.

HATTIE MCDANIELS 1893-1952 LOUISE BEAVER 1902-1962 JUANITA WHITE 1914-2014 ARE THE TOP GREATEST AFRICAN AMERICAN ACTRESSES IN HOLLYWOOD OF THE 1930s/,1940s/ 1950s/ they paved the way for so meny and were treated so cruelly and disrespected to badly, they were stereotyped, pigeon Toed to play only one part and were not paid what they deserved and went through so much hatered and racism, they were black actresses at the core of segregation. They were extroardinary actresses who broke barriers and were very strong women. They need monuments of them and statues to remember them. I hate that they are never mentioned as great actresses. My they all RIP. Juanita Sweetheart you deserved that Oscar, you were incredible in the " Imitation of Life" movie...you made me cry, I got so so emotional, your performance was mind blowing amazing...I watch that movie and have loved it ever since. Just like Ms. Moore said, Lana Turner was a Star, and she was definitely right, and a beautiful one too. I have so fallen under the spell of this majestic movie. Juanita Moore is someone most special. Truly, they aren't making people like this any more! To be so moved by this film, made so very long ago, and then, with the flip of a few keys be able to have JM talk to me about the experience of IMITATION OF LIFE some 40 years later is a gift not to be taken for granted. How gracious, gentle, thoughtful and kind is she. Her words held me kind of spell-bound, taking me back to the time & place of the movie. Her appreciation of Lana Turner is so obviously heart-felt and true. I imagine these two actresses, in continuing their friendship over the years, if they didn't see each other often when they did they would be a special bond that nothing could break. Lovely. A final thought is that in having Annie die so grandly in this film from 1958, what a surprise to find her still up and around to talk to us in 1999, going on to celebrate her 99th birthday but a few years ago. That's the way to do it, Juanita Moore! Always in our hearts...

+Larry Banks Thanks for tuning in, and for your positive comment- we're very happy that you are enjoying the interview. :) We shot this interview in the living room of the house on Bedford Drive in Beverly Hills where the Johnny Stompanato killing took place... when we were producing "Lana Turner- A Daughter's Memoir" for TCM in 2001. It's packaged on DVD with "The Bad and the Beautiful". Luke Sacher Praeses & Soapbox Productions Inc.

+Larry Banks TCM runs it every once in a while- but if you do a Google search, I bet that someone has uploaded it... we can't upload it due to our contract with TCM. :)

Umm thank you what kind of crap is this.... they have a beautiful, living Legend in they face in all they can do is talking about another actress?

That’s exactly what I said! What a disappointment and dis-service to Juanita! During a time as a black actress in such a film that explored the challenges of racism from a woman’s point of view as well as to learn about the life of Ms. Moore... I found it to be quite disrespectful and appalling! What a way to erase this prominent black actress!😡
