Rob Halford is a true singer, not simply a voice. Anytime a singer moves the microphone down away from their mouth, you KNOW they know how to project!! Perfect cover of "Diamonds and Rust!" I also love that Rob Halford is also an openly gay man fronting one of the ORIGINAL metal bands!! Great choice, Jamel! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

"Rob Halford is also an openly gay man fronting one of the ORIGINAL metal bands!!" I really dig that too. As I was watching Jamel listen to him, I started to wonder if Rob had ever written a book about his life, so I looked online and BAM! His autobiography was just released in September! I'm fucking dying to read it.

I was really into the rock scene when Rob came out and I remember the reaction of almost the entire rock community was a collective "yea..and?" - no-one gave even the tiniest crap. We rockers are a very accepting bunch. Well, we British rockers are, I still haven't really forgiven the US (even if I've been there many times and love it) for shunning Queen after the video for "I Want to Break Free" came out.
@justineapril79223 жыл бұрын
@@God-ck5yo That is because most American men are insecure about their own bodies and sexuality. Who cares if one man wants to dress like a woman?? That's up to that person. Hey, when I first saw the video for "Bohemian Rhapsody," I KNEW Freddie Mercury was at least bisexual. It was 1975, I was 16, and I liked boys AND other girls. So, why shouldn't anyone else?? Then in 1976, I went to my first Queen concert! Amazing!! I was lucky to see them again in '77. 💜💜💜💜

Unleashed in the East has perhaps the best recorded versions, live or otherwise, of many of the great Priest songs up to that point, including Diamonds and Rust. This version was almost like an "MTV unplugged" version (not necessarily a bad thing) but still plugged in. Also, Rob's voice was getting past its prime,. He still sounded good in the lower-mid registers, but couldn't really hit the highs anymore. Happens to most great singers, especially the ones with a lot of power and range. When your voice is your instrument, you can't just tune up, change strings, etc.
