@sheogarathmad4183 Sound engineers and Judas Priest nailed the sound on spot that night. Seen Priest 3 times in the last 2 years and some things I've noticed: #1 Sound is always a little off in the first few songs #2 Rob might(!) need a few lines to really warm up #3 Hill's bass gets louder, more noticeable from song to song ending in a really nice metallic, gnarling sound

Sorry guys but I think Rob is miming here. I think he spends this song (and only this song) bent over to hide as much of the vocal performance as possible because it is coming from a track. He has to sing many other songs in the set in a lower key now due to limited range... but for Painkiller he can hit constant high notes perfectly? So why does he lower easier notes in other songs? Listen to Judas Priest Live in Kanagawa, Japan, the vocal for Painkiller is IDENTICAL. Also, I read an article published in 2020 where Rob says he wishes he could sing Painkiller like he could when the song came out (implying that he no longer can), but years after that interview he suddenly can sing it like he used to again?

I feel bad for Rob Halford. Don't get me wrong, I'm not mocking him or anything. I just feel bad because I know he'd love to be able to sing like he used to, but age catches up with us all. No one with a voice like his in his prime would be able to sing like before at 70+ either. He set the bar so incredibly high. It's one of the reasons I rarely watch footage of live shows from aged bands. I almost always feel bad for them.

@mr.t114 He is suffering from the Parkinson disease and therefore he can't do the touring anymore since 2018. Afaik he is still involved in the studio and song writing process. On tour their producer Andy Sneap is Tipton's stand-in, which was his desired person to do that.

This just looks weird without a wall of Marshall cabs, even if they're only for show?!
@221b-l3t24 күн бұрын
They are behind the curtains, I don't know why. Although Richie uses ENGL Powerball II amps live and probably ENGL cabs as well. Not sure about Andy, I think he does use Marshalls, in the Studio Richie uses a JCM800 and a 1959 SLP both for his sound but he seems to like the simplicity of having a modern amp live with multiple channels and master volumes. I believe Richie and Andy both use one full stack, two amps but one is backup. So maybe it would look weird with only two full stacks and Ian's cab is big but nowhere near 1985 type wall of amps large. You can't play at these volumes anymore and everything is miced and goes through the PA so the guitar amps are not on their own anymore with just PA for drums and vocals. So they don't need multiple stacks with multiple 100 W heads anymore.
