Listen to the first minute of this song and the first minute of Hell Patrol. They are def tapping into their sound from the Painkiller album, and that's a very good thing.
@AE111TRD10 жыл бұрын
you're exactly right! I listened to this a few times last night, and today was listening to it in my head, and because I was still unfamiliar with Redeemer of Souls, I was always transitioning to hell patrol in my head and would stop myself and go "that wasn't what i was trying to get to" but now you have said it and i have been able to listen to both side by side its very much there, and i like it!
@AllThingsProg10 жыл бұрын
If I want to listen to a song that sounds like Hell Patrol.. I'll listen to the original Hell Patrol and not bother about the other clones. You can clearly tell that this album is going to be a Painkiller Pt 2 (assuming the rest of the album sounds like this song). If that's the case then that is NOT a very good thing imo. p.s. I love the Painkiller album.
@notgonnahappen789910 жыл бұрын
Well, for many Priest fans, an album that follows the direction of Pain Killer is a very good thing.
@AllThingsProg10 жыл бұрын
Michael Kehoe There are reasons why Painkiller is considered a classic.. One : because it's a killer album. Two : Priest had never released an album that sounded like Painkiller. It was so different. I know most Priest fans are like you that don't care about originality. But the fact of the matter is that as an artist one should always try to explore new territory. Did you listen to Nostradamus? That was so un-Priest like! But man..I loved it!
@hinjurock10 жыл бұрын
Painkiller was a pretty good album, but I much prefer the classic Priest sound and style that they had on legendary releases such as British Steel and Screaming For Vengeance, not to mention the godlike Unleashed In The East, the best live Metal album of all time.

I believe they have also cross hybridized Nephilim Giants with animals to create Lycanthropes & Demonic looking winged Reptilians. Judas Priest is a legendary band that has withstood more than just the test of time. Their sound has influenced metal bands for decades. Rob Halford has been the envy of every metal bands frontman even before it was a genre. In days like now , where TV forces us to watch the crap it thinks we love like Idol, The Voice, and "Somewhere's" got Talent , we forget what amazing music is, as well as how unique Judas Priest's sound really is. I still wonder how the judges on these shows would react to Halford turning up in his prime and belting out "Dreamer Deceiver" in front of them... they would lose their f#cken minds ! I am honoured to be here and listen to another Priest song. This one is special because my newborn daughter and I heard it for the first time together . We're all witnessing a band who has a sound unlike anyone else. They have strong roots that identify their structure, yet sound different on each album . You will never come across such experimental artists like this again. Metal is my church , and Judas is my Priest

While it's great that Priest is making another album, without Downing, the Twin Guitar attack lost it's fury. The licks are rather ordinary and uninspired, Halford is doing what he does best, although he does seem restrained at parts like he desperately want's to scream at the top of his lungs. Even given what they have it's a solid effort. I like it, but I'm not in love with it.

What is wrong with Nostradamus, that album was epic!!!! Just because every song wasn't "Nostradamus"...They did an awesome job on that record, I'll admit you have to listen to it a few times to really appreciate it. They did things not done before musically, yet still stayed true to Priest, by far my favorite.
@Debiruman166610 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, the main fact to understand is that "Nostradamus" is not the "collection of singles" kind of album... if you're looking for the "killing song", you won't find it... this album works as an entity, and it only works if you listen to it entirely, in the good ordrer, it's more an album to listen while lying on the bed than to listen heabanging while doing your housework or driving your car... No songs in Nostradamus are part of my favorite Priest songs, but as an album to listen entirely, it maybe the one than I enjoy the best, with Painkiller :)
@agentbuckwall280610 жыл бұрын
Finally some people haven't said terrible things about it. It's true that you can't just pick and choose some songs in a random order (except for Future of Mankind, one of my favorite overall songs of anybody), and you also can't be of the mindset that "it's different so I don't like it." Different sound is what makes Priest so great, because they can sound different but still sound like Priest. But yeah, thanks to you two for finally showing me that some people likes Nostradamus.
