Ian Gillan, Halford and David Byron invented this style of singing in my opinion. I like Ripper very much and he is a great singer too.

I move as fast as I can I like to get around I'm crazy like a madman My feet don't touch the ground I move amongst the night life And they just step aside Cause when they see me coming They know I'm running wild Dead or alive there's nothing That bothers me at all I take on all comers They back off or they fall They raise their hands to stop me I laugh and I defy Cause what's the point in living Unless you're living wild No chains can hold me down I always break away I never hear society Tell me what to do or say I taste the life that pleases me And raise a storm for all the world to see I never stumble, never fall Never stop for rest I rebel but I walk tall And I demand respect I move amongst the nightlife And they just step aside Cause when they see me coming They know I'm running wild I'm running wild I'm running wild Get outta my way I'm running wild I'm running wild You better believe it Wild...

I don't know how many of you have realized that, even the background riffs from 0:33 to 0:38 sounds alike Prowler by maiden. ( Listen to it carefully.) I mean prowler riffs sound like those of priest's. :D P.S. - I am not saying Maiden copied it, but that shows how Maiden is influenced by Priest. :) Hail metal \m/

Sounds odd after hearing the original thousands of times, doesn't work with Ripper's range or Rob's. Other bands have been doing this as well like Metallica. Trying to "keep up the heavy" or something. It's not necessary imo.

Lol, you should see the face of a friend of mine, big Maiden fan, when he first listened to that song! You are right, they borrowed that riff, changed it a bit and released Wickerman. Still, both songs are great, no love lost!

Although i love Rob, Ripper Owens did a real good job in singing this just as good.

This was the best song, in my opinion, on one of their better albums. Ripper's not bad on this one. What's amazing is he seemed to completely take over the band. They sound totally different on the CD's with Owens.
@jms98016 жыл бұрын
I think Iron Maiden took this riff for their song The Wickerman.
@spawner28655 жыл бұрын
Well they are not exactly the same, but similar, and is evident that Maiden got influenced by Priest.

I think maybe the band just wanted to take a different direction, Ripper didn't necessarily change the band. If u notice JP always keeps changing styles; Turbo being an excellent example of a drastic change.

I've been a Priest disciple since seeing them in the UK in 1974/1975, Ripper fitted the bill when Rob threw his dummy out of the pram! I didn't hear of anyone else banging the door down wanting to take over Rob's shoes either! Priest are a group, NOT ONE man. I personally loved Jugulator, not so much Demolition, conversely Angel, Rob's comeback, was weak IMO. Nostradamus is better BUT I want the next to be "back to basics", Defenders, Stained Class or Painkiller styles please! Roll on Sheffield

there's the essence of the true heavy metal inside this song. awesome, EVEN with Ripper. I m fed up with too mythoman heavies. Rippes is also a good singer. not Rob but a good singer

The sound is clipping?
@tyrant150516 жыл бұрын
They thought Ripper fitted the bill very well and there was a VERY small queue for the auditions, surprise, surprise! Rob still cuts the mustard live, just, but the tones and style that made him the best in the business IMO are sadly gone. I SAW them at Brixton, Ripper SUNG well and actually bettered some of Rob's stuff but had no real presence at all. Even though IMO I think Maiden's music is weak compared to Priest, Dickinson is still pure class and makes it look effortless.

fuck they have to play it in a different key for this dude

The thing with ripper is, he is a very talented singer, but since he was vocalist for Judas Priest, he is compared with Halford, whom he doesn´t stand a chance against, but then again, who does.
@ruudinho2316 жыл бұрын
Halford is more Priest than Tim Owens, and a better vocalist too, even if Owens maybe have a better vocal-range now than Halford, cause of his age.. But anyway, Ripper really kicked ass here..
