Great video! Thanks for taking my request. I didn’t realize that she did the orchestral arrangement herself until you researched it and mentioned it. I think the writing for the pair of horns is exquisite - it sounds like something out of Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs, who was a horn player himself as well as one of the greatest orchestrators who ever lived. Thank you again! I’ll have to find another gem for you soon:) (You already discovered the original version of “No More I Love Yous,” which is another gem no one knows.)

Great reaction video that does this song justice. Like you, I'd never heard of her until I read a recent article in the NY Times heralding her and a documentary that just came out. Makes one realize what's out there that we haven't heard or been fed by the music industry over the years. Her vocals and pacing are incredible and the lyrics "And still I hear their whisper" gets to me each time I hear her.

We have been doing this channel for 5 1/2 years and it never ceases to amaze me how many truly great artists never got famous, never "made it". So much talent that just didnt get the push from the record companies. The fun part though is finding great "new" music from the 60's and 70's. Thanks Dennis!

@@ReactionsToTheClassics Totally agree with you. "Discovering" Judee Sill was similar to discovering Nick Drake. Even more amazing is that there are bound to be amazing and fantastic artists that just never made or even wanted to make it. The search is on! 😄

Really enjoyed that one and yes, what a (tragic) story. Indeed, so many worthy artists vying for attention back then (Rodriguez was also being ignored in the US around the same time). Hadn't heard of Judee either but I see she wrote Jesus Was a Crossmaker, which I'm familiar with form the Hollies' cover, and is another great song!

Glad you liked it, I figured you would. Man Rodriguez another legend!

It sounds like the vocal track was doubled to make it fuller. A fantastic artist. Most of her songs deal with the struggle between addiction and religion, put into words with incredible artistry.

There is a Judee Sill doc / movie coming April 2024. It will be in theaters and streaming. Lost Angel: The Genius of Judee Sill. I can't wait and it makes me happy when people discover her music.

There are times I think this is *the* most beautiful song I have ever heard. Even though the arrangement on this studio version is gorgeous, my favourite version is a live one she did for the BBC, solo at the piano, which allows the purity of the words and melody to come through. Have a listen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn_OhHSbdpiFldU

How many great tellents have been snuffed out from heroin and mental health issues? It's definitely taken out a lot of the musicians who I've loved and miss

I feel it's religious but no mention of God, Jesus, Buddah whomever. My favorite part Stars bursting in the sky Hear the sad nova's dying cry Shimmering memory
