I will always accept new Judge Dredd content in my life. What I love about this is that it can always be used in other similar games. I'll say I wanna like the Stallone film more than I do, and it has redeeming qualities... but I did not like Stallone as Dredd and the movie itself was a mess. Dredd with Karl Urban was such a banger. This vid alone makes wanna go re-watch it

My thing was we really should have never seen Dredds face in 1995s JD. At least until he was stripped of his title in the courtroom. Diane Lane and Armand Assante both did Judge Hershey and EX-Judge Rico very well. Assante uses one of my favorite quotes. "The innocent exist only until they inevitably become perpetrators." What a great line.

I got very similar grey drawer units from Morrison's for my paints and random small tools and I used the feet, (which looked exactly the same) as engines on a spaceship :-) Excellent ingenuity as always Tim you have captured the essence of Dredd's world very well. The possibilities are endless for different shops, maybe a 'tween block plaza, a play area or a park but set up in the air between the stacks! I totally agree about the films, the Stallone one got the look of Mega City 1 bang on but Karl Urban got Dredd right.

Absolutely love this. My intro to JD and 2000AD was around the same time. I used to love the JD role-playing game as well as Block War and the Rogue Trooper games. The idea of using those drawers for buildings is fantastic and could work for mamy settings. As I watched and you talked about walkways, I thought you could possibly make detachable sections that fit into the sides. You could even utilise the small gap as a locking mechanism by having card/plasticard edges that slot in to them. Can't wait to see how this fills a table.

LOVE this tutorial :-) Both Dredd films have their good and bad points, and are just escapist entertainment in the end, so I watch both of them just for the sheer joy of seeing them. Your turning stackable storage boxes into scenery is a true joy to behold, and something similar to what I did years ago for a Necromunda table commission, using cat food boxes and other bits I had to hand. I miss the WargamesFoundry metal 2000ad minis, too, and also have my reservations about Mantic Games' terrain and figures, as they are too soft and bendy for my liking. Scotia Grendel products do some nice hard resin scenery for Aliens style games as well as generic sci-fi/fantasy, so check them out and see if anything catches your eye :-) I would LOVE to see a Shuggy Hall, with the wonderful Max Normal taking on a few players, as he is one Judge Dredd character who really needs adding to the game. LOVE seeing the Chopper graffiti too, and hope to see the completed table when it's done, as you've given me so much inspiration for building a table all of my own now, and I don't really indulge in the gaming hobby, but I do paint gamers' figures for them, and build the occasional piece of scenery or complete table for them. Hope the new workshop is finished soon, so you can really get back into making more videos and showing your work :-D

For the raised plaza, you could use one of the frame pieces to provide the columns, perhaps with a shop underneath. Last year I spent a month or so learning how to use Tinkercad to design the balcony sections from the atrium of Peach Trees for 3D printing. I got them pretty close, but ran out of steam when it came to designing the shops and apartments to go behind (mostly due to trying to work out the best way to cope with the the recessed entrances).

Love this idea, definitely om the look out for some of these units. From the Dredd strips, I'd expect the hab units to be accessed through a nondescript door off a soulless interior corridor rather than an external balcony. 1> inset the balconies, low wall where the current wall is and then the main wall an inch or so back. 2> make access doors to the units at the side 3>take a stack of units, connect solidly together and then build walkways, lifts, stairs etc to connect the levels together around the inside edges. (think the core of the building in Dredd) and place between the hab/shop stacks Should give you a more transportable/storable solution. For the shop windows, 2 possible solutions for the bank logo (or similar) tape the logo onto the back of the window and use that to paint it on the other side or for more complex designs or stained glass, get some printable Overhead Projector sheet.
@magratheabuilderofworlds71415 ай бұрын
Yeah, I tned to think that the hab units in blocks should be soulless
@MattNandhraCalow11 ай бұрын
It would be great to make some of the top sections of the room with door/windows on the ends. They should be pretty interchangeable from unit to unit, so that could give a good amount of variety easily. Potentially could give you a way to move between the blocks at higher levels besides the front walkways. Might also be cool to have a bottom section with a stairwell inside ( maybe only part of that lower section) to allow models to climb up. Could have a hole in the next floor, though that might expose the white plastic, or just imagine there is a way through into the apartment above
@magratheabuilderofworlds714111 ай бұрын
Oh mate i Have plans:0) The cool thing abiout this is how flexible it is for use in games. As you suggest I don't need to make them all the same, just swap bits around as I need them in scenarios. I have already experimented with making walkways that will go in between to stretch them out and have more playable space down the side. Remember I see these as interior partsof a MC1 block, they aren't blocks in their own right. There have been some fantastic suggestions from viewers, it really sems to have clicked in the imagination.

Hi Tim. Really innovative use of the drawers. When I saw them in the background at the start of the video I thought you had been getting stuff to organise your cack! It's just as well that you wanted to leave them white as I don't think that this type of plastic takes paint well. you would probably have had to use a really aggressive lacquer primer which would risk melting them. My kickstarter terrain from Acid House Terrain should be shipped in the next few weeks so I will have everything needed to play Dredd as well as B&B. The only hitch is that my wife is going into hospital for a brain operation in just over a week so all our efforts are geared towards that and I haven't been able to find time to have a game. Hopefully I will have chance to play at least one game by the time Salute comes round this year! 😯 I actually like both Dredd movies. The Stallone one is very tongue in cheek and, as you say, the ambience is very over the top and closer to the original comic version, with the massive guns and massive shoulder armour. The Karl Urban version is grittier and to my mind is set in an earlier time - not long after the wars and before Mega City One had grown. It is not the world of the comics, more a prequel, but they had to use Dredd. I got 2000AD from the very first issue and at one point had a couple of hundred continuous issues. I ended up giving them away to the son of my parents' friends. Goodness knows what they would have been worth today! 🥺
