So glad that this child has a stable aunt that can & is able to take better care of this child. Obviously, this child is going to need a stable life, counseling, & love. Dad can't provide that & left his child with the child's aunt. Dad needs to leave the aunt & child alone. It's going to take some serious work to help this young man.

I understand that the defense attorney has to make every argument possible for his client, but good god this guy is rowing up Denial River without a paddle.

Josiah's aunt seems stable and very intelligent and educated! Well spoken too! She is an angel for taking Josiah in her home since birth and loving him and providing for him! But that doesn't absolve the father of Josiah to not provide for his son too! He should be mandated to pay child support and be involved with his childs life, but if he is neglectful and abusive! Then he needs supervised visits

This Judge has tact in rare form. The reference to James Brown was the ultimate mic drop! The attorney did a superior job of advocating for his client, so kudos to him. Pray this child can keep their stable environment and focus on peace and having pride within.

That little dude's aunt is not only perfectly behaved & prepared for court & remarkably articulate, making her points rapid-fire better than most lawyers would, she seems like the only human being standing between that child & a guaranteed life of crime, fatherless babies & blaming the system for his failures, just like his biodad. That child's aunt is made entirely of good things. SHE is the type of person whom the courts should be empowering & protecting. Biodad's lawyer's allegation that he needs to be part of his offspring's life is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard a lawyer utter. Biodad has no interest in being a father, he just doesn't want to pay child support, and everyone knows it. I guarantee it - offer him the option of never seeing the child again & not paying a dime in support, or being allowed to see his son once a a week but having to pay - biodad will take the cheap route. How is it that, after 3 or 4 generations of SO many unwanted children, women are still behaving like birthing sows when it comes to teen relationships? Yes, it's a man's responsibility too, but let's not forget where the buck is meant to stop. How many decades of contraceptive advice, the riot act being read by parents, in movies, in music, every single human being not in their bed with them, is practically shouting advice - and now we hear it again in court - use protection! But no, off they go, playing Russian Roulette with her cycle. It's so ignorant to ignore that advice, yet despite having a potentially great kid, they do everything they can to sabotage him - abandoning him, physically, emotionally & financially, and now we're enduring the counterfeit allegation of fatherly love in court? Thanks to that child's aunt, he should grow up to be ten times what his biodad is. The farther he is from his biodad's influence, the better he'll do. All the people who have so much love to give who can't have children, and we have these sows making bad decisions like it's in the DNA, rolling around with some prison-destined cliché, waiting for the stork to arrive because they have the self-control of reptiles. I hope this kid continues to thrive - his aunt's got a tough road ahead of her, but she is the kind of person we ALL need to rally behind and help. Social safety nets, programs, all well and good, but stability, consistency? That takes a person with character with love for the child. Whoever raised that kid's aunt - YOU did a good job.

If the dad was trying for over a year to get you to take his son, and you knew the son was in the lousy situation, why didn't you take him earlier?

Having POSSESSION of a child and caring for a child are wildly different things. They can occur simultaneously, but they’re separate situations.

“She’s a liar”. Sir, clearly the woman trying to take care of your child is not the problem. Babies should not be a surprise. They have been coming into this world the same way for 100s of thousands of years.

Yay Judge!! So glad that you are protecting this child! Anyone who mistreats a child is an awful person!! Thank God for his Aunt for taking care of the child!!
