They both married white men so tell me how are they the dream of slaves when they're married to the slave master? Just like you aren't a descendant of American slaves neither Kopmala Harris and truth be told Jackson looks like an immigrant too. You non FBA immigrants really need to stay in your lane.

Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I'll rise. Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? Shoulders falling down like teardrops, Weakened by my soulful cries? Does my haughtiness offend you? Don't you take it awful hard ’Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines Diggin’ in my own backyard. You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise. Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise That I dance like I've got diamonds At the meeting of my thighs? Out of the huts of history’s shame I rise Up from a past that’s rooted in pain I rise I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide, Welling and swelling I bear in the tide. Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear I rise Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. @fab thank golly people like you are out here to point out how racist it is to have the first black female Justice. Where were people like you for the first couple hundred years of America where you had to be a white man to be in any part of the United States government? I always thought the United States government was supposed to represent the people of America. Having 108 out of 118 justices be white men just doesn't sound like a fair representation of America to me does it to you? People like you just refuse to see racism or sexism as it exists all over this country going on every day today but you come out of the woodwork when someone tries to fix things. Same thing happened in the astronaut Corps. Even when it started, it could have easily expanded it be more than white men but since they only needed a few astronauts they make sure they were all white men for a very long time even though Kennedy insisted on adding one black black man, he was quickly removed after the assassination. then when NASA started recruiting female and minority astronauts with the help of star treks nichelle nicholes, people like you showed up and started crying racism.

"Dream of slaves"? Blacks don't have a corner in the market for that as all races have been enslaved. She should read or view Thomas Sowell work on subject. Plus she is not the first nor second black person on supreme court. We have crossed that bridge. Race shouldn't matter at this point only the person. But we do need firsts but then let's take out gender and race as having to matter.

Hopefully blacks will stop playing the victim now, get off your bum and work to get out of the hood, use protection ( too many black babies get killed, what a dang shame) or actually PLEASE reproduce more and create a nuclear family, we need more black representation! God answered the prayers of the people who appreciate his blessings in the confirmation of Ms .Ketanji Brown. God created us all and chose our characteristics for us which makes us who we are as brothers and sisters in life and humanity. The awful displays we witnessed from the Republicans, are reminiscent of evil and wickedness that were introduced in the political arena by Satan's worshippers. Our actions tell who we are. We pray for good, truth and decency in ourselves and others .

Your cynicism sounds contrary to pride that Most Americans feel in seeing the Promise of America realized. Who else do want to exclude from the Great Melting Pot that is America? It's foolish to think that all of the Justices should agree with your agenda or philosophy...or they should all come from private Prep Schools or The Heritage Society or the Republican Party. The Court should resemble America and our Candidate put that out there from the outset so we knew what we were voting for.. he delivered.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I see real, and lasting, change. Please note: There are richly melanated women all over the world and most of them are not blessed to be African American. The VP is no longer an African American woman; but she may claim that fame again next week. Those melanated immigrants who kept their accents so as not to be mistaken for one of them "lazy blacks" will now have to rethink that image of "self." As an African American woman, the next time I jump out of an airplane I will be screaming "Ketanji!"

With respect, to whom are you referring when you write of , "Those melanated immigrants who kept their accents so as not to be mistaken for one of them 'lazy blacks'"? (sic: 'Blacks" should be capitalized)" Which melanated immigrants, and why should any immigrant necessarily feel compelled to alter their accent? The reasons that emigres choose to retain their accents, or choose to strive to affect a foreign accent-- entirely a different matter than labouring at learning a new language--are quite varied, particular, and complex. I fear that in attempting to make some profound point--perhaps about the intersectionality of race, national identity, assimilation, class, psychology, and linguistics--you have set your feet upon terra incognita. It would take a polymath skilled in many disciplines to unravel your premise. And neither you nor I possess such qualifications. Cheers

@@kesart8378 Obviously, you arrived by plane, and as a result of missing "that boat," YOU are unqualified to even purchase the 246+ years of qualifications required to discuss "the intersectionality of race, national identity, assimilation, class, psychology, and linguistics." If a penis has not stopped your "up," and you regularly browse more than a pocket dictionary, a bit of African American HerStory might "due your good." In the 1970s, the immigration laws were changed. Why? Weaponized to take the Affirmative Action jobs, richly melanated "blacks" were then imported, and instructed, to keep their accents. Many followed those instructions to the accented letter, and those who later lost their "prime mortgage scandal-lies" homes stopped thinking that they had "it" made; especially those who can still be deported. If "The All-of-it" wasn't so tragic, it would be hilarious. Your use of BIG words was thrilling. I could almost feel your love affair with your thesaurus. However, Word is still [a] god. One must "become with it." What kind of African American doesn't know how to become with "it?" Click below and be served a free "black" plate of Word that will (k)not drag your literate ass into a pull-pit. [ NOTE: AFRICAN AMERICAN has always been "capital," and is now, again, capitalized upon---globally; again. Now that "black" is cool (Thanks to African Americans) this trauma filled adjective is being used globally by many richly melanated people who will never be blessed to be AFRICAN AMERICAN. If Alice Walker has her way, "African Amer-Indian" will be how we explain ourSelves. Again, please note that this richly melanated, African American wom(b)an, does not have to tell you that she's "black." The eyes get "it," and still have "it." ] www.itzallwayzconnected.com Cheers and Hoopla. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY.

@S D You seem to be basing your premise on the idea that the sole criteria used in the selection of Brown-Jackson was her skin color. But in actual fact, she's well qualified (based on her knowledge of law and jurisprudence) for the position she's just earned for herself, on the Court. That's really the main point I wanted to make. It ultimately comes down to FAR more than the irrelevance of someone's race or ethnicity.
