Dog owner here: I moved a few times, once living with a roommate, a few years with a bf, and a few years with my sibling. My dog lived with them too so they formed a bond. Any time my dog visits with my sibling or an old friend/roommate he will run up to them like this because it's someone he knows and hadn't seen in a while. If I have been gone for a couple days, or even sometimes just at work, my dog will run up and focus on me like this... but if he's been around me 24/7 he'll be way more excited to see someone else he knows. I could imagine my dog doing this to my ex and if the judge ruled based on that she would be wrong

People who say this is not the guy's dog are trolling or they don't know anything about dogs. Yes, there're social dogs and I used to have one of those. My dog liked attentions and he would go around in a group of people "greeting" them. But this dog went straight to that guy without paying attention to anyone else. For those who think the guy might have treats in his pocket, just look at the dog's head. If the dog smelled treats and wanted them, his head would turn toward where the treats were, not the guy's face. The bond between the dog and the guy was indisputable.

Also what is cut off in this video (but is in the original episode) is how excited the dog gets the minute he hears his owner's voice. When that lady first enters the court room carrying the dog, he is calm; but as she nears the owner you can see the dog kind of sniffing the air as she passes him, and then when the owner says his name, the dog literally starts jumping around in her arms trying to get to him.

If I brought a dog home, and later turns out that the dog had an owner that was missing, and looking for that dog, I wouldn't mind returning him. The other person would need to show proof, or just a simple happy waggling tail from the dog as in this case. There are many dogs in need of a home, why would I tried to keep a dog that is loved and missed by someone?

have to go by a case by case basis. We rescued a dog from the shelter last year. We don't know how she got there, but she clearly has some abuse issues and if the previous owner saw her on the street with me there is NO WAY I would give her back based on her show of issues. She has come a long way in one year, but it is clear she was in a very bad place wherever it was before us.

I know someone who stole someone's dog. I'm guessing it got separated from its owner as it was wandering around but had a collar on. The person took the dog without looking for the actual owner and moved to another town while the dog was whining and looking out of the car's window. It's unbelievable and sick.. I hope there's a law or something that can get this person in trouble.. because of that person the actual owner will never know what happened to their dog.. I've talked to them and they don't see any problem with the fact that they stole someone's dog. Their username on Instagram is manbundaddy and I have proof that they stole the dog. That's a tough situation- you buy a dog only to find out it was stolen. If it were me I'd give the dog back and sue or ask for a refund from the person who stole the dog and sold it to me in the first place! To those commenting that she should not have ruled from the dog going to him, I'd just like to say this. She did not decide from that alone at all. She would've had the paperwork in front of her and would've read all about it beforehand. Then on the day as a woman very experienced with the lies and 'not quite right' stories of people she would have known what was what. The dog doing what he did just rounded it all off. When my dog sees my sister and her kids, she's naturally excited. When I leave her with them for a period of time and haven't seen her in more than a day- my dog shows more enthusiasm in seeing me again than my sister and her kids will ever know. The point of the matter is- when a dog is separated from their owner for a period of time- they instantly recognize them, and zoom in. They don't do this with 'just anyone'. it is someone they KNOW- and for that dog to react that way- that means it KNOWS him. and that alone is enough to convince a smart judge.

This is a very short clip, over the entire episode she will have been given evidence and she is an experienced judge she would be able to read a person more than others. The woman who bought the dog should have thought with her head. Buying a dog from a stranger in the street for a knockdown price usually means the dog has been stolen and the thief wants a quick sale. If you want a pedigree, get it from a reputable breeder as you will have certain legal rights. For example,all purchases are made on the basis that the puppy is healthy. If you get the puppy examined by a vet when you go home and it's not healthy; you are legally entitled to a refund or replacement puppy.

Chips don't help when dogs are stolen. If the thief refuses to get the dog scanned it can't be forced by anyone but a judge. The thief can also have the info on the chip changed. All they have to do is go to their vet and say they bought the dog. The vet will update the chip for a client they know. They likely wouldn't for someone that's never been there b4 but they would for a regular client.
