How nice to see Judge Newman again! I kind of missed him. We should each have our own Judge Newman in our lives. As for that haunting, at least for a somewhat normal person, killing another human being is almost always traumatizing, especially if we are talking about a very close and dear person, such as one's own child. It bothers and a person can easily have nightmares so it really haunts as Judge Newman said.

Thanks for sharing this video. This was a great. I have respect for this judge and it wasn’t until after the sentencing that I recalled his words to the Uber driver that kidnapped and murdered a young woman passenger. His words were sobering and full of quiet truth, wisdom, and full of sound judgment. I am not a lawyer but I hope he considers doing more lectures and presentations. The way he conducts himself and the court is a reminder that there are still people operating with integrity and high standards in the judiciary and in other fields related to law and Justice!

“Thou shalt not bear false witness” refers to testimony in court, and the only one who admitted to lying in court was SLED, who went in front of a grand jury and claimed “blood spatter” that didn’t exist.

@@andrewmcbride2810 prior bad acts are irrelevant. That’s why this case is so likely to be overturned on appeal. The same rule applies when any criminal on the street is charged. They can’t say “this guy has 25 previous convictions for drugs and guns” and use that as evidence for a murder charge. The only exception is if it’s the exact same behavior; e.g. if Alex Murdaugh had previously shot someone intentionally.

When the Defence lawyers were running around acting like they owned the court house. Judge had a look on his face that told a tale. When he had the family portrait removed, I said, now we can begin to bring Justice for this mother and son. No one deserves to be slaughtered.
