OMG just hearing that this child isn't even 4 yet! That is a LOT for a little guy. Nothing is even set in stone at this age. Let him live you guys.

I was exhausted listening to Mateo's daily schedule- yes, give that child a break and some time to be a kid! Good to see his mom is working hard to be his mom; I figured the next hearing we saw with her would be a termination one. The second case is mind-blowing. The parents are past clueless. CPS can't want them to be acceptable parents MORE than they want to be parents. I have zero hope these parents will get their stuff together and become parents able to make good decisions zs well as provide the basics for the children. Hopefully the children are currently bonding in a home where the foster parents will want to adopt them.

My non-professional understanding is Early intensive very structured therapy and routine has been shown to be best practice known right now for child on spectrum. Obviously, All children have unique needs and there is no single right cookie cutter approach. CPS is funding almost daily intensive one on one therapy. I hope mom can stay clean to support her son’s need along with a team of support.

From experience, I'm part of a family full of neurodivergents. I currently have custody of two on the Spectrum doing ABA, Speech, OT, and PT. It's a lot but the kiddos enjoy every minute of it. When they don't do it, they're asking to go. What seems rigorous to one is daily activity to another. Neurodivergents are very smart and need to be kept challenged. That structure is very good for them.

Mum in the first case is nodding off constantly 😮 no wonder she’s not using she must be on a large methadone script

As someone on methadone, it takes some time and adjusting to the medication and the dose. I still have issues with nodding off an hour after i dose with zero euphoria. Its trial and error to find the dose that's going to be right for the person so please remember that..

It definitely takes some time adjusting to your medication when you're first starting out on methadone maintenance. Also, after you dose, if you don't stay busy, moving around and instead you're just sitting dormant, that's when you seem to nod off. Once she gets on a steady dose, then she should be fine and not have the nodding off near as 😢. Methadone saved my life. I was a fentanyl/heroin addict for many years. Now, it's been about 16 years, and I have a 14 year old daughter, who is my absolute world. So, it's definitely doable. A lot of people don't get off of fentanyl or heroin but it is possible to do. So, hopefully this woman continues doing better and stays off the drugs, and hopefully in 16 years she'll be able to say that she been clean and has her child.

Point of ABA therapy is to do it in the home. It’s not an office based therapy.

This is not true. It can be anywhere. One of my kiddos has it in school. The other has it in clinic. We've also done in home. It's not an in home specific therapy. For one of the children, in home is contraindicated. He did better away from the home environment.

And for the record, the point of ABA is to find the function or reason behind certain behaviors. Everything we do in life is for a reason. So, for anyone in ABA, the goal could be to stop certain behaviors, or it could be to gain certain attributes that the person does not have that they need or that the family deems they need to be successful. It's not a forced scenario.

Yes! I have a large backlog because I cover so many cases and essentially edit all day long lol. I try to get at least 3 videos finished daily to catch up, and that results in a pretty robust playlist for members as I queue them to be published. Typically I publish 3-4 daily from that list. Depending on how much content I'm working on and how far behind I get because of life, lol, there can be from 5-15 videos in early access at any given time

Why does it seem like whenever kids have issues after visitation it's the parents fault? It's always described as a deficiency with the parent/s ability. I'm sure it's heartbreaking and so hard to end those times and not being able to go home. Regardless of how shitty the parents are. I feel a more reasonable and HONEST explanation of the negative behavior described after visits is because they are upset with the caregivers for not being their parents. Or maybe because they are frustrated with the situation and feel like it's the placement who are keeping them from their parent. One of the biggest indicators that I'm heading towards a panic attack is becoming iratatable, short, and a bitch. I usually take it out on the people around me. I wonder if that's not the case here as well. I would love to know the rate of anyone who was removed from their home by the department and if they suffer from c/ptsd. I would imagine it's quite high. There's so many videos on yt (not this channel) where the department just shows up at people's houses and take the kids with minimal explanation to the parents and 0 to the kids. (Just like cops do with search warrants or an arrest warrant.) They will get the kids and if they dont come willingly they are forced physically while kicking and screaming. Many are in the middle of the night so the kids are getting woken up by a stranger pulling them out of bed. The terror and fear in their cries are really hard to watch. I would imagine that children removed by that method are triggered when having to interact with the people who did that to them at visits. I've never seen in ANY of these cases where the department even mentions the way in which the children were removed. I definitely believe that type of info would be beneficial for all parties in the case to know. I would even bet that requiring anyone who removes kid from their home to wear body cameras and the recording be in the court file like the family service plan, baseline hair and uas, and declaring a goal for the case. (Especially now that they stream cases on yt. The public should be aware and able to see just how traumatic that process is.)
