I can’t wait to get this soon. At times I wish that they mapped these event omnis with the tie ins peppered in between the main event issues, but sometimes that doesn’t work as well. My head has gotten used to the tie ins in the back and I see them as the “alternate scenes” or bonus features on DVDs 😂

The Gillen issues of Eternals & the tie-ins for this event should be read in release order or you will miss certain story beats. The other tie-ins don't really matter. Read them whenever.

The one thing I wish this event had had time to do was find an excuse for Exodus and Sersi to have a rematch, since they first fought during the Bloodties crossover between the Avengers and the X-Men in the 90's.

If the wrinkling is just in the front and back its probably from the moisture of the glue on the endpapers from the casing process. The printer could probably prevent this wrinkling if they slip sheeted a water proof moisture barrier like acetate between the endpapers.

After reading omnis mapped in reading order, and others with all the tie in in back, i can say ive been a fan of both depending on the content. I think a good way to fix this for everyone would be to put the full main event in the front of the book and map all the tie-ins in the reading order. That way, if you just want to read the main event, it's easy. If you want to read all the tie-ins, it's easier and will have less flipping around

Just made my way passed X of Swords in the Krakoa era. How essential will AXE be going forward? Is it major for X-men if just reading X-titles? If it is a big crossover I'll read, just not huge on having to read a ton of Eternals.

It should also include most of the content of the _Judgment Day Companion_ TPB. Specifically, _Eve of Judgment_ #1, _Death to the Mutants_ #1-3, and _Judgment Day Omega_ #1, which are basically _Eternals_ #13-17 in all but name, and also the _Starfox_ one-shot.

So, if I understand correctly, if you already have the AXE Judgment Day TPB and the AXE Judgment Day Companion TPB, this omni adds a few extra tie-ins at the back, right? Do those additional tie-ins add compelling stories (and I realize that’s subjective)? It just seems like the two TPBs give you all the issues that are really about the event?

The _Immortal X-Men, X-Men Red,_ and _Legion of X_ tie-ins add compelling stories. Gillen worked with Ewing and Spurrier to make sure those were well integrated in the narrative (although not to the extent that they could be easily slotted between issues of _Judgment Day,_ because there are overlaps, or they take place between panels). The rest don't. Basically, a mechanism is introduced by which characters are to be judged, and the other tie-ins feature characters going through that judgement, but the outcomes are kind of arbitrary and none of them matter as far as the main story is concerned, so they're only worth it if you're already reading the book they're in.

Many, myself included felt like this crossover came out of nowhere and interrupted interesting ongoing stories. However, it ended up being a pretty good event, better than many were expecting. Some had issues with how it resolved. But there were many unique and cool moments throughout. I would say pick it up. You won't be lost if you don't. But its better than a lot of modern Marvel events, so at least worth a closer look. EDIT: I also only collect X-Men, 70,000 pages worth of OHC and paperback, and I have this pre-ordered.

Definitely, Ewing is writing and is one of the head Writers of Krakoa at this time. It’s basically an X-Men / Eternals event with Avengers sprinkled in.

Souns like the mapping is at lwast a half mesure. I was hoping at least Immortal was weaved in since Gillen wrote that but alas.....Red added a lot too. I dont vare that the rest of the tie ins are in the back, they seem less story perdiant

I’m not a fan of those type of books like Flashpoint that to me was not the proper way of mapping a book. If you wanted it mapped that way, stick with single issues. The point of collected editions is to give readers the best experience possible. So to me the reading experience is what matters. That’s why I love the IDW mapping of the TF books. But I also realize everyone wants different things.

Disagree. Tie ins typically suck and take the momentum out of a story. Unless it enhances the main narrative (Infinite Crisis) then put that stuff in the back

Or they do, but it's between panels rather than between issues, or a single tie-in issue takes place across several issues of the main series. Or a tie-in miniseries might have a clear start and end point relative to the event, but the issue breaks don't line up at all, so they immediately fall out of sync with each other. The release schedule is irrelevant because rarely, if ever, is it a chronological order or a good reading order. It makes sense to slot some issues in, and not others. Usually (although not always) that depends on whether the tie-ins are by the same writer as the main event. Of late, Marvel have started to realise this and map books accordingly, with the stuff that's essential to the core story interwoven where it makes sense to do so, while the sidestories (which often add nothing anyway) get pushed to the back.
