This is a Fucking masterpiece. She introduced me to harmonies when I was 7 yrs old and have never ever been able to get this song out of my head. Hats of judie. I’m a singer just been bringing up my son and not had the chances, but because of you and this track harmonies are my forte. Thankyou. Xccccccxxxxxxxx

Still no words to encompass the beauty and romance of this tune.57 years and when I think about the times we grew through and what we have now. I wanna be a silly little niave sprog again full of love adventure romance and the promise of a life that unfolds. Not the life of regime. Peace and love ✌️😁❤️💙💜💎

Saw judie Tzuke live twice at the Bristol Colston Hall. Stay with me till dawn, they did with her back lit with a huge fake arched window. The effect was the dress she was wearing seemed see through. There was not a single noise from the audience. We were silent. Gorgeous lady. Amazing voice. Lucky to have heard it live.

Judie is a massively underrated artist. I remember this song as a teenager, it's a real hidden gem. Love her other songs too. Glad to see she's recently teamed up with Beverly Craven and Julia Fordham named 'Woman to Woman' to create a new album.

I haven't heard this since 1978.but it came into my head tonight when I was thinking about my time holidaying in the Wye valley and this was in the charts. Dear old Terry Wogan played it a lot then. Still hauntingly beautiful.

When I first started singing I was the same so influenced by Judi..the slow tone to lift and harmonies. Always my first choice of female singers..Kate Bush comes a close second. Thank you Judi for all your beautiful sounds. Saw you live with your daughters on backing vocals..then spoke with you afterwards.❤

Could this day be any better? A wonderful Christmas Eve ending with the lovely Judie on YT singing this beautiful song. Must disagree with those who wish it was truly accapella, the lonely, doleful violin only increases the beauty and atmosphere. A real thing of beauty. God bless her.
@portcullis56229 жыл бұрын
I saw Judie Tzuke sing this live last month- just her voice and an acoustic guitar. She has rearranged the song to sing it live and acoustically and it was just wonderful-her voice sounds as beautiful now as it did back in 1978. She is touring in late summer and autumn and playing small venues with her acoustic set-well worth making the effort to see a quality singer-songwriter who sounds as good live as on record.

My Goodness I din't know about this lady-singer Phil, what a discovery, thanks so much for introducing me into her.The string arrangement stirs up in me some of my most loved bucolic British classical composers like Britten, Vaughn Williams and o.Ops always get the last name of the third one entangled oopss the one that got killed in his prime ( such a tragedy ) during WWI Owen, Owens, forgot mmm but he is my very favourite of the idyllic country-side English sound ...
@Magamiam10 жыл бұрын
Magamiam Got it! It was George Butterworth and his unforgettable "The banks of green willow" which I love so much along with his compositions upon A. E. Housman's poem "A Shropshire Lad", he was the one that suggested Vaughan Williams, being such a close friend of his, to turn a tone poem he was working on into his London Symphony, such a real loss he was shot through the head by a sniper, quite unfortunately.

A real shame indeed Mine! One of the many thousands of lives wasted at the behest of the few. Sadly, we'll never know what further delights George could have created! :(

A phenomenal, beautiful, and unique song (maybe Joni Mitchell's "Shadows and Light" comes close). I just bought Welcome to the Cruise for this one song; "Stay With Me Till Dawn" is her big hit and "Bring the Rain" also features her voice accompanied by strings. Judy Tzuke, Kate Bush, and Joan Armatrading were all exceptional British singer-songwriters (Joan Armatrading's "Love and Affection" is a stunner).

This track got "air play" occasionally on BBC Radio 2 (Gloria Honniford ???) and those who thought "Who's This ???" ,,,,, it would go to the news !!!!!!!!!!,,,,,,,,,,,, It seemed that only the "outspoken" DJ's like "DLT" or Chris Evans on Radio 1 would play it and (yes) talk about it ?????? Yep,,,,,,, back in the mid 90's Chris Evans would "shout his mouth off" over a piece of music like this and start asking questions ???????? The only time her name was mentioned was "Radio West" from Bristol around 1981 where they also linked the album ,,,,,,,,,,,, but other "silly songs" by "silly artists" were "flogged" all day. The mind "boggles" !!!!!!!!

@choccystarfish1, Please add a description. I suggest: Judy Tzuke's single from 1978, written by her and Mike Paxman, produced by Lem Lubin. All vocals by Judie Tzuke, string quartet arrangement by Paul Hart. Available on her debut album "Welcome to the Cruise"
