One of my favorite songs by Judith Hill still after 2 years, now proven more urgent than ever. This is exactly what we need to hear more on mainstream media worldwide as this is a global threat to a fair, free, just and peaceful way of life. that is playing out and needs to be fought for every single day. 🌱

There is historical irony that this song ties to American capitalism and greed being at the core of much of the racism in the states. Reason I say this, is that immediately following the civil war almost 20 000 confederate soldiers, leadership and loyalists fled to Brazil. They were welcomed by the Brazilian president, in Brazil slavery was legal. The Brazilian president wanted in on the cash crop wealth they had success with in America, so he sold them a mass of land for cheap. On that land they founded a place they called Americana. To this day the descendants still celebrate their roots in America. A strange thing seeing as that by this point most are of mixed race and of the color skin that their very ancestors would have sought to enslave. I know that has nothing to do with this incredible track, from the most gifted artist I have been made aware of in 30 years, but a fascinating piece of history that made me double take on this songs meaning. Speaking of history, I will honestly say this. I can not for the life of me reference an artist in history that has a more consistently brilliant sense of everything! Every single song I hear blows me away, the writing , singing, arranging the musicianship is off the charts. Even down to song order on the albums. I don t mean this to compare , but to make example. The album back in time for my musical senses is in the same league of musical genuis as Marvin Gaye what's go in on, princes purple rain, parliament mothership connection, micheal Jackson's thriller, guns n roses appetite for destruction, Abbey road the Beatles, dark side of the moon pink Floyd, are you experienced Hendrix, Aretha Franklin Aretha arrives, the band the band.....tbh , Judith has given me hope for the future of music and art. The fact that she makes music with her badass mom and dad makes the love and passion I hear in the music make such beautiful sense, thank you Hill family!
