Then you haven't seen many...and there's just too much pretending in Judo. In a real fight, Never do 2 men engage in a synchronous and coordinated "dance" right before one throws the other down and then everything (stops). This however is assumed in this form-based and "performance"-style discipline. Yes, it looks cool for about 1 second, then they pretend everything just comes to a calm conclusion. This is almost (never) what happens when there's a crazy lunatic trying to kill you. As with Rhonda Rousy, it's all good until someone throws a clean head-kick.

Seeing that leg all tied up reminded me of all the knee injuries from judo. Judo is a grueling sport. Here judo black belt gradings are done by the national body, not an instructor.

@NoPhilters5 ай бұрын
In Canada, we do kata technical stream or comp stream via points. They're doing nage-no-kata for shodan grading but we would do it in front of a grading committee

I got graded by the USJF just a few years ago in 2020 for my black belt. Though I don’t know if grading has changed since then since the USJF has fallen out of favor but it was graded by the governing body and not the instructor back then.
@s1r1555 ай бұрын
It's the same in the UK. My instructor is a 6th dan but he can only grade up to brown belt. Black belt gradings are done by committee, which I think is good for preserving standards.

In the go kyo (and extra techniques) part, there are a few big errors in the kuzushi and tsukuri phases of koshi wazas and the kake (throw) is therefore out of equilibrium, uchi mata is not so good, a lot of little errors here and there. It's remarkable to show all these wazas for shodan, but they have to be consistently good. Maybe a more compact exam program could focus on the quality and not the quantity.
@mitchelhuott84844 ай бұрын
He is also wearing the leg brace which would make throws such as the uchi mata harder, or at least have greater risk of injury.

Wow, totally Loved the content. I have a question. Which is the worst sport for the body and knees especially? Judo or BJJ
@Gonosen5 ай бұрын
My experience is that Judo is harder on the body by a distance...its the getting smashed with the throws that takes it out of you. Lots of old Judoka moving over to BJJ including myself.
@pablomedina18785 ай бұрын
Judo is hard to the body, You would have to really love it to keep it doing it. They have some techniques that you can learn but is not allowed to do in randori or competition to avoid injuries. BJJ is a lot easier to the body but you can also get knee injuries with guys that are trying to do techniques that are not in their levels and you have a lot of them on the BJJ world.
@Kuptofity4 ай бұрын
the worst are BJJ guys trying to do throws that have bad form but overall throws are 90% of most serious injuries, you just cant tap out falling bodies
@BudgetGainsByJJ4 ай бұрын
They’re both hard in the better but Judo will make you stronger and more athletic which enables you to withstand the beatings. If you considering which style is better from my experience Judo is far more effective for self defence. BJJ is more of a “sport” but I can’t deny that it can help for self defence also

Nage no Kata wasn't completed or it just recorded? I noticed few interesting points as the difference between European and US exams. We do Nage no Kata first, than 10 techniques, like morote gari, tawara gaeshi, kani basami, sukui nage, kubi nage and so on. Than self defense based on Judo techniques, and first aid test. What really surprised me is how bouncy is yours tatami. I'm traveling to Kodokan in September to finish my coach licence, so I curious how it will be there. :)

Easy answer..get a black belt in both.
@s8mury3085 ай бұрын
Its said it takes about 10-15 years to get a BJJ blackbelt. Someone might get a Judo blackbelt within 7 years. But BJJ would not exist if judo didn't. No-Gi BJJ is just submission wrestling, the Gi is adopted from Judo.
@jasonrose62885 ай бұрын
In my experience, judo places a heavier emphasis on competition. Most judo black belts have competed over the years to some degree. While BJJ also emphasises competition, I think it would be more common to get a black belt in BJJ than judo without meaningful competition experience. That's my impression, anyway, as a judo black belt and BJJ brown belt. Either way, they are both hard to achieve and worthy of respect.

Not in favor of someone training so soon after surgery or injury. Best case you recover continues, worst case you get ur black belt as you get rolled back into surgery. Not worth the risk. I’m sure his surgeon would be 😡 if he/she was there for this. Lol. Glad he made it through
