This is a great description of de ashi barai, with a lot of insight of the timing, also I love the history behind this technique I remember reading to Nobuyuki Sato and Toshiro Daigo of how mastering foot sweeps put Judo ahead of many traditional schools, and now it is so overlooked , thanks for sharing this content!

Thanks so much. We shot this video at a dojo where I used to teach in Connecticut. The dojo closed around 10 years ago. We shared the dojo with several other instructors and arts, including some Chinese ones--hence the Chinese flag. Wonderful people. Good friends.
