Judo Fanatics was started by a pair of black belts (Bernardo Faria & Michael Zenga) who feel that nothing is more important than improving your Judo skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for Judo Students who don’t look at Judo as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

Given these scenarios, should I attack with left-sided throws if I normally attack right-handed?

Lefthanded throwing has the advantage of being less expected and usually the opponent is less experienced defending, BUT if you normally attack right handed, you'll be less effective on that side. The general advice I've gotten is stick to your primary side (handedness), but have 1 or 2 throws you can do on your offside.

The cross grip attacks we drilled relentlessly , as all the other drills he developed. His ground game is world class to any grappler out there. Training with him is an experience that words can’t describe. I was fortunate to have a lot of great years during his Olympic run & after.

Bronze metal competitor in the olympics and coach to a gold medalist. I’d say I can take his advice on this even if he didn’t get a gold like your guy.
