I actually didn't know that kata guruma and am really interested in it, it's the closest to traditional kata guruma that've seen yet that can still be used in judo.

Agreed. I've seen a lot of variations and that seems extremely close to the traditional leg grab version

I wonder if this would work well with what I was showing you on Monday. Going to have to play with it!

Super cool and very traditional if we want to get purist, this could work well in self defense.

Just wonder what if u get your neck trapped under his arm when pulling up and back. Or there isn't any risk?
@JudoGeoff4 жыл бұрын
I haven't played with this technique yet myself, but his control of the triceps/upper arm may keep his neck safe here.

Manuel, Isa here responding for Shintaro while we're all social distancing. With this ura nage and kata guruma, placing the head under the arm is essential. A lot of times people will call this "the pocket". If your neck feels like it's trapped under your partner's arm, then you probably need to work on your posture going into the technique so that you are properly aligned and not out of position.
