Normally there would be ZERO trace left behind. Just youtube burning man cleanup. but yeah this year presents challenges since the mud will dry up all rutted up with bits of "junk" inside.

Absolutely agree, Doug, thank you. I was there, camped at 9:15 and J through K, a large placed camp with people who really care to leave no trace. And we swept our scene down to the last tiny trace. But all the other veteran burners I spoke to shared my concern that the epic trash heap left behind will be radically out of step with the principle of Leave No Trace. Lotsa first-time burners, just leaving their stuck-to-the-ground tarps and tents, carpets and kit, likely a monumental mess. I trust the Org doesn't go BK as a consequence. But for me, I'm out, I'm done, this is a great time that is now quite obviously out of step with it's own stated values - and mine. Beyond the apocalyptic mess left behind, it's just not the same experience.

Just how reflective the playa surface is now says a lot about the amount of water that feel there. Smoothed it out and shined it up. Can't wait for a good clear shot from the GOES 18 satellite, see all the track marks maybe. This was bound to happens at some point during a burn... took a LONG time, but it happened. Noone in the "default world" was panicking about some rain at BM or that anyone was "going to die" That's just the news sensationalizing for the sake of ratings. Thanks for clearing things up - it was really pissing me off the way people were responding to the news stories who don’t know anything about how these big festivals work or assuming things about the people who attend. Shoutout to the volunteers who go back in after festivals to clean up because they really make it possible. Also don’t be shy about volunteering for festivals you enjoy because giving back to the community is important! ❤

I saw you flying about as I was in that line. Sad I didn't get to see the man burn, looked fantastic.

Wow!...You are the king of the universe, with your flying machine, and all those cool cameras,....self producing the whole thing in real time,.....Are you also using a drone to record yourself, as you fly along? So fascinating!.....(I'm older than dirt, (70) not hip to anything, so pardon my ignorance.) I'll check out your page/site/links,..whatever. Cool!
