This scene just destroyed me. I wept the whole scene. This scene clearly illustrates that despite her personal demons and the disease of addiction that ultimately killed her, she is still loved and forever will be.

Bridget Jones, Roxie Hart, Judy Garland… The fact that fans of Renee Zellweger happily spar over which role is her career best-performance shows how powerfully talented of an actress she really is. It’s this one for me. Garland made a mighty comeback, and Zellweger made the comeback of the century in portraying her. Bravo to all, including the Oscar voters for getting it so right!

My Grandmother is Irish. She reminds me so much of Judy Garland, right down to her mannerisms, comments about society and so on. She never struggled with addiction, but she did suffer from an abusive partner at a time that people in Ireland would never divorce. This scene is great.
@anthonybirkholz61043 жыл бұрын
This performance By Renee may be one of the greatest performances in cinema history. Judy Garland was BELOVED by everyone. Her life was cut short due to drugs. She never won an Oscar in her career. I must have watched "The Wizard Of Oz" at least 50 times. It is such a magical film. One that still gets to me, after almost my 51 yrs of living. This story of her life is sad, because it is so real. Her struggles are so real, even being famous, she has money problems, addiction problems. people expecting her to perform when she was so sick. addicted and frightened. The Oscar is most deserving for Renee. I wish that Judy's daughters were there to see Renee accept the Oscar for the brilliant performance she gave playing Judy Garland. Such an AMAZING performance.
@christianpatriot74393 жыл бұрын
I think she was given a special Oscar for the Wizard of Oz, but she did win one regular Oscar. It was for best actress (I don't think it was for supporting actress) for what was essentially a bit part in Judgment at Nuremberg.

I Don't even think there is just one word in the dictionary that describes how that movie moved so many of us as we all grew up with The wizard of Oz!! We all know the story that, with the wind went home that night with all the awards. I guess sometimes even the academy award panel can be wrong ☺️ yet all of us in the audience all know that not only the acting performance of Judy and all those that works with deserved a standing ovation I know is that today I still watch the movie, I still get choked up when she sings somewhere over the rainbow 🌈 and I'm very confident knowing this song will last from many more generations to come 🌈

What's really missing here is the set up. She had just been fired and was at the end of her rope. She begged the act that was supposed to go on to cover for her to let her perform one last time because she knew she would never be in this theater again. This is a broken Judy, trying so hard to keep her dignity.

Gutsy... to me Judy was/is the greatest artist who has ever lived and will ever live! No-one comes close to her at any point in history. Used, drugged by studio execs, they had the most extraordinary talent the world has ever seen. And they used and abused the most incredible magic the world has ever seen. Love Judy... she was, is and will always be the greatest ever.

Incredible how they made her look like Judy with the wig and makeup. I’m a makeup artist and I do work in front and back of camera besides that, and I love making people feel good about themselves or making them into a character like this woman was. She has a tiny petite thin body like Judy had.
