I remember when I was 7 years old growing up in Kingston back in the 70s, my best friend was a Rastaman who use to sell juice on his bike and I watch police take him off his bike, fling him in the back of a jeep by his hair. I cried for my Rasta brethren and after 50 plus years I still remember that police man face. I still would love to find him!!!!!

In 1988, the band I was a part of did a show in Easton, Pennsylvania. Our band and it's crew were led into a large room with a large table that had lots of food on it. We started to eat food from the table and one of the promoters came into the room and started yelling at us, telling us to stay away from the food. A tall woman walked in and told the promoter that the food was for everyone and should be enjoyed by everyone. That woman was Judy Mowatt. Our band was called ONE. We opened the show for her and her band. To this day I remember that time and she was/is 1st class in every way. A true lady with class. Thank you, Judy.

I have heard it said that 12 tribes was set up by a middle class Jamaican aka Gad to water down the fiery African centered message of Nyahbinggi. Hence 12 tribes promoted a lot of mix raced relationships and integration. Thus is a tactic used by the enemy throughout Black History.

Love Judy Moat but once you have a true understanding that Rastafari is a black power, conscious movement with HIM as the head of the movement you will never go back to any denomination. If you come to rastafari looking for Christ or to validate something from the Bible you will be doomed from the beginning. People should understand that we as black people are gods certain people see HIM as a good in the sense that his spirit, impact and teachings to his people lives within us no different than the teachings of Marcus Garvey or any other great ancestor. Rastafari is not some religious replacement for the church or the Bible!

My bible has one word in it LOVE. in 1611, King James from the UK paid 47 scholars for 7 years to look at all the duplicate books in circulation and take the relevant bits out of each book and compile a new book and then add it to the bible. At the time the duplicate books contradicted each other and also contradicted King James policies and politics (which is why he commissioned them). What this means is that every word in the bible is not exclusively the word of Jah and that many of these words are words of scholars and people with their own agenda, some good some not so good. Therefore to know which words represent the will of Jah and which words serve the agenda of man, one needs to use Love as the measuring stick. Words with no Love are human artifacts. In other words LOVE is definitive and words cannot be for man is not perfect. Religion has been politicised through the millenia. One Love,

To make matters worse, there is also a US edition of the bible where emphasis was placed in it that you shall be cursed if you do not unconditionally support Israel. Interesting. I'd like to hear a deeper exploration of the decline in the functioning of TTI in Jamaica. Gad-man always said that the circling of Jamaica with meetings in each parish was one objective achieved, so that "missionary" preaching was done. He also spoke of eliminating the registration/dues paying activities and that was done. Those were accomplished before his death. What we might be witnessing is not a failure of TTI as much as a wider failure of the RasTafari movement to carry out the tasks of organization. The groups that are continuing to operate function more like the same churches that original RasTafari so distanced itself from. Much of the TTI doctrine, particularly identification of the self in the human body (tribes) is embraced by many individuals who identify as Rasta. The notion of HIM as godhead or Christ in modern times is lost in words. Some say Christ revealed in HIM, some say Christ revealed through HIM. We do know that no created thing or flesh can be Creator of the universe but is manifested through life.
