I wish more young people would join. I've done civil war reenacting (for the North). It is challenging but loads of fun! Plus, the more you get into reenacting, the more you learn and appreciate what your ancestors went through, and what you have. I can't wait to start up again.

If the original fighting men had fought like this, they would all have been wiped out in a few minutes. I can't imagine soldiers walking this slowly and calmly when engaged in a skirmish. Although i am not a reenactor and I do appreciate all the effort that you have all gone through with your clothing and weapons, at least make it look like your life depended upon how you reacted when confronted with an enemy force.

Where was this? What state and near which town/city? I used to do 18th century Re-Enactment here in Wisconsin back in the 80's. I was an Irish "Spy" for the American Side. I would LOVE to come to this! :D

This was in Virginia Beach, VA several years ago. I don't know if/where re-enactments are still happening. You can always try a Google search. Sorry I am not more helpful.

Great video, love that the folks with the camera aren't doing any silly voiceovers, just capturing the scene and immersing the audience in the event. I strive for a similar vibe on my own channel. Good job!

Too bad the Continental army did not all wear blue uniforms. I know we won the war and all but those threads were sharp.

I've done living history before. We can't really demonstrate for the public the misery of war in the 18th century, but it's a lot of fun trying.

As each era's impression grows and members are added it becomes more and more of an authentic experience for reenactors and spectators alike ! . . 👍 . . The Civil War group we started with years ago , with just a handful of members , (sometimes it was really embarrassing) , has now grown and is an acceptable representation of a small contingent of soldiers . . 🇺🇲 New groups like the WW II , and Vietnam reenactors are experiencing the same things we faced years ago with just a handful of members and little to no equipment ! . . 🤕 " KUDOOS " . . to all living history/reenactors who hang in there through the rough times ! We were fortunate to attend a national anniversary event at Gettysburg National Park where 30,000 reenactors attended in the heat of July ! . . 🥵 . . (In woolies ! ! ) . . 🔥🌡️🔥 . . It's not something you'll ever forget ! . .😳 . . (Even the porta-johns were epic! ! ) . .💩. 🧻 . 🚫 Hang in there fellow history lovers we need to keep this history "ALIVE" ! ! ! . . 😄😉 . "IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'VE BEEN , YOU CAN'T KNOW WHERE YOUR GOING!". . 📖

WOW ! ! . . Does this video ever bring back wonderful memories ! . . 🤔 . . My husband , daughter and I did. a Civil War impression for a number of years . We loved it and learned so much ! We started with some "FARBIE" things but quickly learned what the Sutter's sold was not particularly correct , so I spent alot of time doing research . Camping late in the year was a real experience ! . . 🥴 . . I slept in a corn field in a small "A" tent on rows of chopped off corn . . . 😳 . . We woke up with a layer of frost all over everything ! . . 🌬️ . . I don't think I've ever been so cold in my life ! . 🥶 . . You can truly understand why the mortality rate was so huge ! . . 🪦 I was even priveledged to have the flu at one reenactment . . 🤢 . . How bad this was I can't begin to tell you ! . . 🥴 . . Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories ! ! . . . 👍 .. I could almost smell the campfire and bacon cooking . . 🇺🇲

@@JudyOzmar Your right ! . . But if you don't really live it , you don't and can't know 'how it used to be' . . 🤔 . . I'm glad to get a view of the early American way of life . . 👍 . . We attended a living history in Bay City , Mich called 'The River of Time' , it included Revalutionary War through WW II . . 🇺🇲 . . We were with a unit that did a Union Civil War impression . It was fascinating ! We didn't get a whole lot of time to mingle amongst the different groups , . . 😐 . . there were always spectators around all day and late into the night . . 🧑🤝🧑👭👬👫 . . Unlike so many of our events when the parks etc had a closing time . . ⌛ . . I'm sure spectators seeing a Civil War soldiar in a Revalutionary War camp was a bit like being caught in a matrix , . . 😳 . . so it was nice to get an "inside view" of this encampment ! . . 😃 . . It's great to hear and see young people in the video . Especially the teen/twenty year old soldier in uniform interested in being sooo . . authentic with crafting a folding seat . . 🪡🧵 . . That's where the future of the hobby lies isn't it ! . . 🤷 . . The young people in our group , some started as infants are still several decades later involved with living history/reenacting ! . 👶 . . For all era reenactors this is a wonderful thing to see ! All the knowledge and skills us oldsters acquired won't be lost ! . . 👍🇺🇲 . . Thanks again for the tour , Enjoy every moment , they fly by so fast ! ! . . Here's hoping '2022' is a bit more living history friendly ! ! . . 😷
