Interesting interviews here of people who worked with him ad well as Charlotte and Jane. Gainsbourg is so much more than Je t'aime though and his early period is a lot closer to Chanson than anything else (Manon, le poinçonneur des lilas). His jazz period was just out of this world.

How can you mention a composer of the classical period and a chanson singer in the same breath? There's a world of difference: "le carnaval des animaux", "le cygne" (the swan) is most beautiful, "l'anamour" by Serge Gainsbourg is most beautiful, too, but of another leage. Regarding classics, let me give you an advice: Listen to "La Wally" the performance by the soprano DONIJ VAN DOORN and the orchestra of André Rieu, in case you don't know it. It will bowl you over, promise!

Nah, the guy at 2:50 is wrong. France's Eurovision entry in 1961 is credited with the launch of the bing-a-bang type Eurovision song lyric. One of the hooks in that song, "Printemps, avril carrillone," was literally "Bing et bong, bing et bong." So give credit to Gainsbourg for a catchy winning entry in 1965, but not that.

...and for the history she was booed at the rehearsals from the italian audience and the orchestra, finally the british singer who came 2nd after the results slapped Gall because she was angry. Years after Gall said ESC for her was a nightmare. p.s. the same night her boyfriend told her she sang terrible which was true also she said it and broke with her from telephone. Poor France.

But the guy was french though. Don’t go for origins equals identity dude, doesn’t make sense and it’s got nothing to do with reality
@carlapierini75472 жыл бұрын
No his name was Lucien Ginsburg. Born in a Russian Jew family, but born in France - so he was raised with a French education. He preferred to change his stage name to Serge because he thought that Lucien was too common, and a hairdresser’s name he used to see everywhere in Paris “chez Lucien, coiffeur pour homme”. Anyway, he also “frenchified” his last name as well, changing Ginsburg to Gainsbourg. He was proud of his Russian origins but he was French in his heart before all

What about us gentiles who score above 160 and who are backed by the body of Christ? lol No contest whatsoever. You were done before you even started 'bugging' us.

No, himself said that they key of the song is "L'amour physique est sans issue", Physical love (attraction) have no future, and that the girl says Je t'aime in the act but the guy isn't fooled and says Moi non plus, so he doesn't believe the girl and knows that she only says so in the act.
@standafan41416 жыл бұрын
Amine MB yes indeed. She's coming so she keeps on saying I love you and he doesn't believe her and in his mind she's really saying "I don't love you" to which he replies "neither do I" or "nor do I". I'd go for Birkin's choice of words since she's English.
@blackmore46 жыл бұрын
@superapex21 _"You were done before you even started 'bugging' us."_ Seriously? Unbelievable. How is it possible to ignore Gainsbourg's genius while spouting anti-Jewish crap? And backed by... _"the body of Christ"_ ?! Sounds really painful.
@seanduffield54325 жыл бұрын
@@blackmore4 I wouldn't even bother trying to engage with this arsehole. My guess, from the terminology and small-minded language this idiot uses, he's a right-wing, bible thumping American christian, a typical hate-filled paranoia-prone puritanical drone, who probably doesn't even know where the clitoris is. He calls himself 'superapex', which perhaps is a clue to his own delusional ego and self importance. On the strength of his post, I would say a more fitting nom de plume would be 'Unremarkable ape'. It's a good job he's got the body of jesus to fantasise about. Without that, and living in a culture which is a barage of foam-mouthed fox news style misinformation and conspiracy-nut disneyland/x-files hysteria, he would have probably offed himself by now, or worse-still taken his repressed rage out on a bunch of innocents with a semi-automatic rifle, or blown up an abortion clinic. GAWD BLESS THE AMERICAN PURITANS!! ;)
